KR> Icom IC-A200 help
Helping install a A200 in a friends KR2. The radio install sheet shows that the radio has an intercom function but the diagram only shows on set of headseat plugs. Am I missing something? Also if anyone has this unit installed I would appreciate it if they could answer some novice questions on the wiring. Regards, Terry Teer KR2 N6233K Ackerman, MS

KR> Gear width/crosswind
Flying my KR-2 t/d and the crosswind landings are very exciting to say the least. I purchased the plane used and the gear is very narrow. The gear is bolted to the mainspar on the inside of the fuse right under your legs and is probably nearly 4.8 ft wide in track. What effect would the plane have if they were moved out to the stubs in the normal area. The plane flies great but landings are very exciting even without a crosswind component. Any suggestions or advice? Regards, Terry Ackerman, MS KR-2
KR> Radio suggestions?
Will be changing my instrument panel this winter and would like to install a panel mount transceiver. Clearance behind the panel is about 10" max. Would like to install Icom 200 but too deep. Have entertained the idea of Microair panel mount. Has anyone used or experience this unit? Regards, Terry Ackerman, MS KR-2

KR> Off Topic
Trying to form some plexiglass rear windows. The windows will be about 11x17 with a slight curve on one edge. What is the best way to form this plexi (1/8 inch). I have heard of forming it in an oven but not sure of the procedure. Will it work the same with lexan? Can someone help or refer me to the proper source? Regards, Terry Teer Ackerman, MS KR-2 (Lands just fine with 3 point)
KR> Engine burps !!
After asking a few questions and trying several good suggestions, I still have a "miss" in my engine. It is a Revmaster 2180 with POSA w/o mixture, Bendix D-2000 mags. Previously thought that it was a carb design issue but need to look elsewhere. On initial start up the plane starts and idles perfectly. Today we taxied to the other end of the field (4600 ft) and returned. Engine didn't miss until we got back about half way. It is just a "bump" in the engine. It doesn't stumble as in a fuel problem in my opinion. I can't make it do it. Sometimes it just quits altogether and restarts just fine. When I bought the plane the previous owner said that the stumble was a trait of the POSA and wasn't an issue at flying rpm. I'm just not so sure. Could there be an ignition issue that would cause this? I have not taxied on just one mag to single out that, but during a mag check they seem to function fine. It does seem to start after warming up. Oil temps of about 150. Checked the fuel line for a hot soak condition and was slightly warm. Hell, the exhaust pipes were barely hot!! Any more suggestions? Scared to fly Regards, Terry Teer Ackerman, MS
KR> Carb options?
Recently purchased a Flying KR2, Revmaster 2180, Poza carb, without mixture control. During taxi, at times, the engine misses one beat. Every now and then the engine just dies alltogether and have to restart. It seems that it is a random thing. I can't get it to do it at will. Is this a common thing of the Poza carb? Should I look for another type of carb? Regards, Terry Teer Ackerman, MS
KR> Hot Mag problem !!!
Purchased a used KR2 w/vw revmaster duel ignition. Previous owner said had problem with one mag staying hot. He replaced the ignition switch about a year or so and said that cured the problem until, naturally, just before the sell. I replaced the switch and the problem is still there. the left mag, reduced rpm, the right no drop. I believe the mag is a bendix d-3000. How do you check and identify the problem? Regards, Terry

KR> coatings
Powdercoating the engine mount is by far the best way to go. It is naturally applied as a powder and heated to about 500-550 degrees and the powder will then melt and be impervious to the amount of heat in the cowled area. I powdercoated several years back (mid 80's) in Denver, CO. The wheels can also be coated, but if they are magnesium or alum make sure that they are preheated in the oven to wick all the air and contaminants out of the metal. I would recommend that you blast them with a soda ash or plastic bead and use a good epoxy sealer the color that you want them. If you need a recommendation on the product let me know. As far as the exhaust goes chroming is the best way to prevent corrosion but expensive. I used a company called Jet-Hot Coatings on one of my projects. It is a ceramic coating and is much cheaper. Just search for them on the web. They have several locations. Great people. Hope that I have helped.
