My KR is stretched 24?inches so I may not need as much trim as some.. Larry my KR2-S is stretched another 18.75" farther aft of the rear spar. Yep you read that right...extended one more bay plus four inches to the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer spar -bulkhead.I think my KR2s is the longest in the world. I hear long is a good thing so in this case I can brag mine is longer than yours. I do get a noticeable pitch change when I deploy the speed brake full down and trim for that.? I do not reset trim for takeoff but adjust trim on climb out or cruise as necessary just as in a Cessna or Piper.? You will find that you will adjust trim by the feel in the stick, not by the lights.? On your first flight just take off with neutral trim and precede from there.? KR> Aeropoxy
I am wondering how much Aeropoxy I will need for wing construction on my KR2S. How much should I have on hand while laying up the fiberglass ? I plan just one layer of glass at a time with peel-ply.Is there is a method to figure how much to mix for a given area ? From previous experience with the older type Rand resins ,I always seemed to have extra resin gone to waste. Also is the one hour hardener enough time to wet out one layer of glass? I'm thinking it's plenty of time with this lower viscosity type resin. Happy New Year Joe Cruz KR2S Spencer,NY

I think if i blow dry it with a heat gun it might warp and delaminate. any suggestions appreciated, Joe Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Wound up with about 5/8" of water in each bay on the fuselage floor. Prior to that I had painted the inside of the fuselage with thinned epoxy. So, I was able to mop up the water with a sponge and rags. The outside plywood had not been painted. The bare mahogany showed some water stain but no warpage after air drying. The aircraft grade plywood has waterproof glue. Most epoxy glues are also waterproof, but the uncoated lumber can soak up the water and cause issues with uneven expansion and then contraction when it dries out. Use great care with the heat gun: you might overheat the glue joints and soften the epoxy. That could do more damage than water soaking. Recommend you wipe up the visible water soon as possible. Then air dry with with lots of ventilation with a fan or two. Craig, I purchased the Henrob torch several years ago. It welds 4130 tube quite well. Of course you have to practice on some small pieces before you go and weld on and engine mount or push pull rods. Joe Cruz http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/weldingtorch.php Tig is nice but the equipment to do it is expensive so I would have to pay to all my parts made. I have nearly 400 hours now on my "standard" KR tail surfaces with aluminum hinges. They are nowhere near worn enough that I'm thinking of major surgery to rebuild them. I agree with several other posts and suggest that if the tail is finished I'd finish the airplane and go fly. If you are still flying the airplane after hundreds of hours of flight time and they need attention, do a rebuild then. At that point you'll know more what you want anyway. Canopy frame Wing attach fittings Forward deck Turtle deck Those parts are pristine. There are other available parts which are less pristine, but maybe somebody can use them. They include a fuselage which is well past the boat stage. Tail feathers are installed. The main spar is installed, and shaped to accept the newer airfoil. The stick, pedals, horns and cables are also installed. Pretty much all other airframe parts are on hand to complete this aircraft, including retractable gear, fuel tank halves, the canopy and frame. The canopy frame needs to be repaired. The smoked canopy has a small edge crack, but that's fixable too. Wing spars are fabbed and sealed with epoxy resin. Of course none of this is brand spanking new, and little of it fits the KR2S which most are building, so the value is not what it once was. I'm not even sure that the tank is the currently available version. Make me an offer. Interested persons contact me direct. If nobody calls in on this stuff, it's going to the dump. BTW, there's a HAPI engine available too. It's a low time engine, but due to the number of years it's been sitting around, I don't want to fly it. I was thinking of using it in a hovercraft. But hey, if someone wants it... ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html The information in this Keybase e-mail is confidential and may be privileged.
