Thanks for your answer and reminder. Can't we just measure the height or
the aileron spar at the inb'd and outb'd spar ends and machine the spars to
that
dimension? Ray

What is the latest on the Sport Plane License? I heard that it had been

KR>Building to Plans

2008-10-12 Thread raybeth...@wmconnect.com

You are right Larry,
If you want to finish faster and better, follow the plans. Speaking from
someone who knows. I've learned that lesson the hard way, but I have a
tiger by the tail and can't let go. It seems to me, the average builder [
or builder wanting to fly with less time building, buy the plans and every
prefab part you can afford to purchase and build it to plans.

12 years and counting

Ron, I agree with you. i have been working on my KR2S since Jan. 1994. I
have made several changes, which necesitated other changes and I am only about
3/4 way finished. I started out with the goal of finishing mine with $15,000.
As it stands right now , I think I can do it on $18,000.Good luck, Ray

2008-10-12 Thread raybeth...@wmconnect.com
I am considering using Lucite for my Gull Wing canopy doors and
windshield. It is said to be 10 times as strong as glass It resists gasoline.
 I can
get it at Lowe's for about half price of Lexan. Any comments? You may reply

Thanks Mike for the info. I have received about 4 other responses to my
Email to the net. I had received a piece of Lexan from Wicks. I am returning
it
because it was clear and I wanted "Tinted". By the way,I was at the hanger
a day or two ago and talked with Jim. He was asking about you.The 24x48
piece of Lexan from wicks cost $32.00. I can get the same piece from Lowe's
(Lucite" for $10 to $12. I will check into your source. Thanks, Mike Ray

2008-10-12 Thread raybeth...@wmconnect.com
Steve, Thanks for your reply. You gave some very good info. I will file
it in my KR file. My windshield will be a flat wrap. My Gull Wing doors will
be almost a flat wrap except the bottom of the door will have a very small
amount of curve and be slightly longer than the top. Do you think that this
will work with a flar wrap? If do need some heat, I might go with a heat gun
as
Dan Diehl did many years ago, according to an old KRNews letter. Ray
