I should mention that the gauge is the Dwyer 2-5002. Currently about $45 on
ebay.

KR> AOA lift reserve indicator DIY

2018-02-12 Thread Craig Williams via KRnet
Folks

There are plans on the web for building your own system. I put one on my Smith.
Very easy as evidence by my ability to build one. Cheap too. I probably don't
have $50 tied up in mine. Google DIY lift reserve indicator or

Your wing will stall when the chord line is at approximately 14 to 16
degrees to the oncoming wind.

In high cruise the wing chord line will probably be in the 0 to 2
degrees (big guess on my part) angle to the oncoming wind.

Set the airplane to level and level the pitot is my best
advise. Mine seems to be quite accurate at that setting.

Hello KR flyers,

In your experience, what is the angle of attack (20,30, 35 degrees) to the
wing chord line or level line at stall speed?

And at cruise, what would you say is the wing angle of attack to level line?
Is there a best angle at which to install the pitot tube?

Thanks,

Gary
