KR> Cable Tension
Dan, i remember going through this exercise about 13 years ago. I did find some tension numbers that seemed to apply to the cables on a KR. I bought a tensionometer and proceeded to set everything up. The numbers are way to much. I ended up doing it by feel and also tried getting a reading from the gauge after adjusting everthing and it did not even register on the meter. I have never had to adjust the cables since original set up and there is still no sloop in the system. My advice is to adjust to a no sag and no sloop in the movement. I adjusted until I had instant response (movement) from either the elevator, rudder , or alirons. As a side note to this I had installed the Dynon AP a few years ago. The slight drag on the servos dampened the sensitivity but has no impact on the responsiveness. >From the expert: "By the way, one reason for a heavy control system feel is excessive control cable tension. Loosen them upthey don't have to twang. If you can make them twang and vibrate they are too tight." P. 126, The Sportplane Builder, Tony Bingelis. This subject has come up over the years, in fact, back in the day, I asked the same question. The rule that I have always followed, is NO slop, and not so tight that it is going to break anything. That is advice, not direct knowledge. Hey, any more information on the Gathering. What hotel is going to the "official" gathering hotel?
