We need a little help down south, for our plans to travel to Mt. Vernon.
Please see the message from Wayne, below. It is "ifey" here right now, but
we expect it to get better in a few days.

KR group,

How does the availability of gasoline look in your prospective states? We

have had a scare run on it here in Grenada, MS and most all of the stations

are out at the moment. There were two stations this morning that had some

fuel. You can imagine what it looked like around them. Hopfully this will

all be over in a couple of days. Looking forward to this next weekend in

Mount Vernon.

Last night, the Cape Girardeau, MO, TV station showed
several stations in the Missouri Bootheel, along I-55,
that were limiting gas purchases to 10 gallons, in
some cases $40 total. Apparently, there is some gas
available in our area, Southern Illinois and Southeast
Missouri. A few stations have run out temporarily,
but the resupplies seem to be coming in. I haven't
seen any station in the Carbondale and Marion area
closed due to no gas in my commute from my
girlfriend's house to my farm. Marion is about 40
miles south of Mt Vernon, on I-57.

I spent $3.11 for 100LL at the airport this morning after driving past gas
stations looking for $3.15 for 87 octane.

2008-10-12 Thread M & C
I live in Jackson, Missouri just 8 miles NE of Cape Girardeau and I get
around a lot and have not experienced any of the problems stated by the TV
station at least in a 25-30 mile radius of Jackson, Mo. All of the stations
I've seen here have gas with no limit that I know. Prices ranging from 2.65
a gal to 2.99 for reg. I think it may be a little higher priced in IL.

Gas in southern Illinois spiked to $3.69 for a day or two but now
seems to be in the $3.15 to $3.39 range. I've only seen one
station with "out of gas" signs but that was a small independent
station.

I called the Mt.Vernon FBO this evening and they said they should
have plenty of 100LL through next weekend. Price was $3.63
as I recall.

Gas prices will add a few bucks to the cost of the trip but for
now it looks to be available.

I'll keep you posted if I get more info...
