KR> Jabaru 3300 in KR2S/Continental 0-200D

2009-11-23 Thread phil brookman
not wishing to put you off but over here uk jabs 3300 have an appauling
reputation ---loads of mods and expensive upgrades have been done even to basic
components like conrods .
ecclestone aviation rebuild these all the time
our air invetigation branch have also taken a lot of notice of this engine ..
the late ones may be better --but i would check every nut and bolt and mod
and cooling these seems to be big issue
and do not rely on standard jetting either -this will need carefully testing by
starting slightly rich and moving from there --not from weak
we have a kr2 with jab 3300 in it -flew to austrailia but had to take the
importer to court over some issue

Hi Folks
Regarding the new light weight O200. I looked at it at the recent AOPA
Summit in Tampa and it is the same old " reliable" technology with a
lighter weight starter. The oil sump looks like something that was made in a
high school welding class and the carburetor looks like it would be right at
home on a Model A Ford. I just paid 16500 for a Jabiru 3300 which is not
cheap compared to a little over 6 K for a VW but what a difference in machining
and up to date technology. I think that Jabiru is a breath of fresh air
and a lot cheaper than Rotax and Continental. They have had some issues but
seem to be trying to get through the growing pains of new development and I
hear the factory is good about service issues but I wish they were a little
closer.. I still have not been able to find out what a KR2 cruises at with
a Jab 3300 under the hood. All The Best . Jim Wright ,

I would think the new Continental 0-200D would be a good engine for the KR.
I haven't seen a price, but I am sure it is crazy expensive. The 3300 isn't
cheap either.

Ken Thomas of Jasper, AL has a Jabaru 3300 in his oversized KR-2S. Ken is a
BIG
uy, even by my standards, so built his KR wider and taller than most. His
take
ff performance the one time I saw his plane was impressive. You can catch a

ouple of pictures of his plane in the 2004 Gathering photos on the KRNet.org

eb page. I've never seen any published numbers on his plane and don't think
he
s a member of this forum. You've got his name and home town, so it should be

asy fare to give him a call or US mail if you really want the info from
someone
lying the -2S behind one.
BTW, do you have a name and city to put at the bottom of your email so the
rest
