KR> Kr-2 Project For Sale

2011-09-26 Thread kr1pi...@aol.com
To KR Knetters,

Health matters have dictated an end to my dream.. I have a KR-2 In canoe
form with wing stubs attached and sitting on original KR retractable landing
gear. Vertical and horizontal tail feathers are attached and front and rear
wing spars have been built but not attached.

I have the original nose cowling, canopy. Needs a turtle deck built.

Along with the project I have (2) 66 110hp corvair engines to go along with
the project. (1) engine is in the tear down stage and the other is
complete and not been taken apart... I will sell the engines separate of the
KR-2
but I would like to sell the engines together.

I am not parting out pieces off the project so please don't ask.

Feel free to E-Mail Paul @ _Kr1pilot@aol.com_ (mailto:kr1pi...@aol.com)

The project is located in Lakeland Florida..

Regards,

Paul

1-Paul, I am in need of many things but in particular, a canopy and your
corvair engine. I need prices ASAP as I am leaving for points south in three
days time...simply vacation traveling and would travel a bit more south if
prices are attractive and affordable.
2-Dan Heath, are you seeing this? I wonder if you have decided on a dollar
value for your VW. My wife and I will be vacationing in NC but if worth our
while we would make our way to Columbia, SC.for an engine purchase.

KR-2 project for sale skin removal

One way to remove the skins while leaving the skeleton ready for new skins
might
be to use a router. Set the cutting blade the depth of the skin and get a blade
for the router the width of the skeleton sticks.
Rout down the skins over the skeleton sticks, unless you intend to re-use the
skins. If so then forget this idea!
Just a thought ?

What would be a good procedure for removing existing fuselage skin and leave
surfaces good for applying new skin?

If you must remove the skin, try using a steam iron. let it set on the first
part of the area you want to remove and when it gets real hot, just use a
wedge to lift the plywood up and slip a sheet of paper between the longeron
and the skin. Continue doing this until all the skin is removed. I used this
method to remove a skin that was installed wrong, it worked very well

I would cut the ply out between the 5/8" spruce and then use a Dotco type
grinder to get is close. Maybe use a block sander with about a 36 - 60 grit
to take the remaining material off. If there is a little glue left over it
will be ok as T-88 will bond just fine.

The sides actually are not all that bad. I think they can be cleaned up
well enough. The bottom was the real problem.

I know. It is stronger as well but the mahogany looks nicer if you intend on
leaving the interior exposed.

KR> KR-2 project for sale.

2010-11-05 Thread I FLY KRs
Netter's,

I have a standard KR-2 project for sale. This is a great start on a build
for not a lot of cash.

The Good -

1. The boat is assembled.

2. Spars and tail frame is built.

3. Prefabricated components include canopy frame, wings tips, forward
deck/ instrument panel, and turtle deck. I may be even talked into letting
the buyer build their tail skins in our facility using our molds to sweeten
the deal.

4. Canopy - A small part of the flange is damaged but will be cut off
anyway during the installation.

5. Miscellaneous parts included some WAF's, aileron control brackets,
home brew dual stick assembly, wheels and mechanical brakes on the original
retract gear.

6. Dual rudder pedals.

The Bad -

1. The project sat in a garage for quite awhile so is a little dirty.

2. The builder did really nice work on the spruce. Something was lost
in translation on the fuselage skin and it was not installed correctly. It
should be removed and new skin installed. The builder used birch. I have a
little mahogany I can throw in but not enough to do all of it.

3. I would pull the tail and remove the existing glass work. It seems
they used Dynel and it has some hangar rash. Our "U-Build" tail skins would
take care of that problem.

4. Complete plans and builders manual.

I am going to let someone get a great deal so they can build their own time
machine as inexpensively as possible. The whole enchilada for only $1500.
You can't even begin to touch the materials for that price. Must be picked
up at our facility in Corona, CA.

Please email me direct with questions or interests. If you are just kicking
tires please do not waste my time as I don't have enough of it as it is.
