KR> Sender
Dan I made a simple recess box by glassing over the end of a box large enough to hold the sender base and that is all, then cut the hole just large enough to allow the sender "box" to be pressed into the tank and floxed into place, after having cut open for the sender/float assembly and drilling for the mounting screws. Floxed into tank top, then mounted sender, then floxed cut out piece back into place, with small channel dremelled out for the wires to the firewall, and on to the gauge. Pictures shows this on my web page. Colin crain...@cfl.rr.com http://kr-builder.org/Colin/index.html KR2(td) N96TA Sanford, FL
KR> Sender here senders there senders everywhere
Hello Net After reading about sender locations on Bennett's site, I opened the cowl this morning and started moving them around. First of all I noted that the hole in the head designed for the installation of the factory CHT probe is located on the just about where my second spark plug is located. If this head were located on the bank with the #3 cylinder, the would be roughly above the #3 intake port. Since I had 4 cylinder CHT, I removed the number 2 and 4 probes and relocated them. The number 4 probe is now located on the head bolt which is closest to the #3 exhaust. and the #2 probe is now located on the head bolt just below the #2 intake on the head bolt. The number one and three plugs still have their senders in place. There is a big difference in the temp at that #3 head bolt as compared to the temp at the #3 spark plug. Near the end of a 5 minute run at full power, the plug mounted probe read 525 and the #3 head bolt mounted probe read 375. I made a few other mods today in an effort to reduce heat. I wrapped the turbo and part of the exhaust pipes. I also moved the induction pipe between the turbo and the splitter going to the left and right manifolds. This was done in an effort to lift the pipe up away from the heat of the #3 cylinder and to allow better air flow under it and around the #3 head. Tomorrow I will make permanent mounts for the fuel pump, regulator and wiring and install a switch. I will operate the pump during take off and anytime where I will use WOT and or full boost. Perhaps by tomorrow evening I will be back in the air. Orma Southfield, MI N110LR celebrating 20 years To the gathering or bust
