KR> Virginia KR meeting

2008-10-12 Thread Mark Langford
Joe Horton's itching to do a long cross country, and I'm always up for one,
so we're going to meet tomorrow morning (Saturday) halfway at BKW (Raleigh
County Memorial Airport
Beckley, West Virginia), which is 317 nm for each of us. If there are any
other KRnetHeads in the area, or if somebody else wants to fly in too, we
are shooting for being there by about 11AM EST for a couple of hours (lunch,
maybe) at least. We may cancel due to weather, so check in the morning to
make sure, but that's the plan at the moment...

How about a east coast meeting in the next few weeks? I will be flying
the KR out to Boston, MA. to it's new owner and will be making a few
stops through central Texas, Alabama, over to Florida to see WW, and
then up the coast...

You're not kidding. I miss it already... At least I'll have the LongEZ
to fly while I'm building the new KR. I gotta do something to beat, or
at least keep up with Richard Shirley.

That's fine with me. Maybe my father's farm in south Alabama, 8 miles south
of TOI (Troy). It's grass, but it's pretty long (3600'). Or maybe here in
Huntsville even. Nothing big, just a few hours on the ground BS'ing about
KRs...

The BKW trip is postponed until Sunday morning, same time (11AM, maybe).
This will literally be a hundred dollar hamburger. $95 for fuel, $5 for the
burger, assuming we can borrow the former police car to drive to town. I
strongly suspect it will only be me and Joe, but that's OK too...

Hi Mark,

I will be going thru Dothan, AL. My brother lives there. How far is
that from your place? I don't know if my KR can do grass. The wheel
pants are really low to the deck.

Steve

Dothan is about 40 miles south of my father's farm. He keeps the grass
pretty short, but I couldn't say exactly about the wheel pants. My
brother's 172 has wheel pants and he flys in and out all the time, but his
tires are bigger too.

Yeah, When I installed the pants, Richard S. talked me into installing
them lower than normal so I only have about 1" - 1.5" of clearance.

I'll get ahold of you as the date gets closer to coordinate.
