KR> hangar in Mulberry, Florida (off-topic)
Howdy; still trying to help locate a Fairchild that is somewhere in a hangar near Mulberry, Florida (close to Lakeland). The hangar is owned by a Clarence Smith and I have more info on it. Anyone out there living near Mulberry or familiar with Mr. Smith (he owns a Taylorcraft) please contact me off-list; thanks. KR> Hangar
I think my KR will be ready to move to the airport by spring so I thought I should start looking for hanger space. I first called Harnett county airport HRJ to check about hanger space. They have a waiting list which I will be #3 on the list. A T hanger is $255 per mo. Next I called Fayetteville FAY. They have two avaliable right now at $230 per mo. and are building another 14 unit hanger so by spring they should have plenty of space avaliable. FAY is closer than HRJ but is a controled field so I will have to have avionics to fly from there or at least a hand held comm to even start taxi test. $230 per mo, now if I applied that to a mortgage payment at Eastover Airranch??? Fay also has some hangers with push open doors for $180 per mo. but have a longer waiting list for them. The hanger I was shown would be big enough for 3 or 4 KRs so maybe I can find someone to share a hanger with. Or maybe build some more KRs. KR> Hangar costs
I have my planes hangared at Ellsworth, Kansas (9K7). My cost for a large single hangar (will hold 2 planes) is $45 a month. There is a public hangar that will hold about six planes and it costs $25 a month. If you want to move here, the City of Ellsworth is giving away free building sites. Pre-owned houses are a bargain. A six bedroom, three bath brick home on 7 acres with two large barns for all of your playtoys sold for $70,000. See, there are advantages to putting up with Kansas winds.
