KR> updated KR Gathing photos on my website

2008-10-12 Thread jeffyor...@qx.net
Just thought I would let you know. I finally updated a few things on my
website. Here is the link to the 2005 KR Gathering photos I took. Here is the
link http://web.qx.net/jeffyork40/KRGathering2005/

Obviously you can tell I was very interested in engine baffling. As I am re
doing mine. I also have several good pictures of Steve Jones KR as well may be
yours in there too.

I have updated pictures of my KR as well as the baffle work I am doing. I had
to much air getting by my old baffling and hope to lower my oil temps a bit. If
nothing else I will feel I have done all I can to improve oil temps.

I had hoped to get a KR ride at the gathering as I could use the duel time and
the chance to compare notes and observe someone else's temps and gauges. I
keep changing things on my Kr to improve something or another and never build
up any long consistent flight time between minor mods. Then the minor mods end
up taking way to much time. You know the story, job, wife kids. Extra time is
very difficult to come by but then again, we make our priorities.

Well, now I have a Cherokee as well, so maybe I will spend more time flying.

David,
that's not a Dragonfly, according to the owner it's a Q 3!
As in Q1 or Q2, but this one has a tricycle (3)gear.
I talked to him briefly while he was there. Sorry, no name. He came over
because he heard about the KR meet.
Maybe somebody else here on the net got his name.

Jeff and Dave,

The Q3 belongs to a flying buddy of mine. His name is Dave Davis from
Edinburg, Illinois, and hangers it at the Taylorville Municipal Airport,
Taylorville, IL. He acquired the Q3 when it was about 1/2 done. He's had a
Taylor Monoplane and a couple different KR-2s in the past, which is why he
shows up at the Gatherings when he can. Engine is a VW - Revmaster, I
think. As you've noted, he's a meticulous builder.

I'll pass on the nice comments to him. He'll enjoy them.

Q3 at Gathering; was Re: KR> updated KR Gathing photos on my website

2008-10-12 Thread jeffyor...@qx.net
Now that several had mentioned it, I do remember him telling me it was a tri
gear Q2. I remember as the first Tri Q (as they are often called I first
seen at Sun N Fun in 1994. I fell in love with the design as I had a Canard
plane ( Varieze ) at the time. The thought of a canard with electric start
and standard gear was very appealing to me.

By the way, the one I seen at Sun N Fun was having it's tail glassed back
on. While taxing on at Sun N Fun, an old Radial Bi Plane was taxing behind
him. The Bi plane did not see the little Tri Q and taxed right up and cut
his tail off. I was parked along the side of the taxi way when it happened.
I was yelling at the Bi plane driver to stop. I guess he did not understand
what I was trying to say. Fiberglass went flying everywhere.

The guy with the Tri Q was from Iowa. One of the demo tents volunteered
their time and effort and was able to put on a very good demonstration of
their product while fixing the Tri Q. The guy flew it home at the end of the
week.

I looked at Tri Q 's and dragonflies for quite some time but, the Tri Q had
been out of circulation for some time due to a legal battle that put them
out of business, and the Dragon was changing hands to often. I felt the
support was not there or at least not like the support from the KR
community.

Ok, here's one stab though, I have never flown in anybody else's KR however.
But, I have only been to one gathering and a couple of Sun N Fun's ( not the
place to get a ride) I guess I want a ride because I have an itch to change
my 2180 to a Corvair. But then again, I need to stop changing things and
just fly.
