Justin,
I have 11Gal in each wing (per plans), but the
wings are HEAVY. If I had it to do over again,
I would build a seperate foam tank build up that fits
inside the wing, or I would build an aluminum tank.
Build and LEAK TEST the tanks OUTSIDE THE WINGS,
then figure a way to install them. I finally leak sealed
my wing tanks, but it added possibly years to the completion on my wing tanks.
(I built the wings in '94-95, and just got them sealed up this summer).
See it at http://n541ry.us
There are three things of no use to a pilot:
1) The sky above you.
2) The runway behind you.
3) The fuel in the truck on the ground below you.
So... seeing that item 3 deals with fuel, I vote for
wing tanks.
Also... burn avgas if you have an Ellison, or if your
bird will sit (as I expect many will). Auto gas gums
up the works if you don't fly regularly. DOH!
