One for the guys currently flying. I assume the top longerons are
designed to be level in cruise flight and that is what you want to align
and level your pitot tube to. Right or wrong?

My pitot tube is half way out of my left outboard wing
http://www.flykr2s.com/wing.html mounted to the front of the main spar at a 90°
angle and it works perfect for me. My static is there too.

That should be close enough. I did an "eyeball" alignment on mine
and it works just fine. The angle changes several degrees during
different flight modes anyway. It's an airspeed "indicator", not a
scientific instrument. :-) I'd suggest you locate the static tube / source
with the pitot (as in Mark's picture) and not try to find that "sweet spot"
on the fuselage for the static source. It's not worth the hassle.

If you built the standard boat, your longerons are NOT level!!
Sit in the plane and pick a portion that will represent level and mark it

for future reference. Use that as your guide, Virg

On my KR I joined 2 pieces of 1/4 inch tubing using an aluminum brazing rod,
the kind that melts with a propane torch. The pitot rod is longer then the
static rod and the static rod is plugged with a soft alum rivet and is drilled
with a small diameter drill on the side of the rod.
