[Bug 38064] Re: bluetooth:/ is a Malformed URL

2006-04-28 Thread Geo_KM
There seems to be a patch in the kde bugs forum against this bug.
Is it possible for the kubuntu admins to prepare an upgrade which embeds this
patch? This bug seems to me quite severe.

[Bug 32159] Re: system:// protocol

2006-04-28 Thread Nael Masood
Yuriy: The .desktop files for GTK and other non-KDE apps have to be patched to
work with the system:/ kio. I've noticed that the most recent OpenOffice
packages have been patched for this, it's just a matter of getting the other
major non-KDE packages to patch it as well.

I applaud the Kubuntu team for it's work in getting most of the kinks of the
system:/ kio-slave fixed. Hell, even Amarok works with files in a system:/
location now.

[Bug 41031] Re: [Bug 41031] Re: Volume in gnome screwed up

2006-04-28 Thread Martin
I did as you asked.

Removed gtk2-engines-gtk-qt remove only under
synaptic. Solved my problem with volume and also my
problem with open office in gnome. Bug {40703}.
Oddly enough it said it will remove Kubuntu desktop.
However kde still works and openoffice under kde still
works fine. Thanks a lot for your workaround. Wish
Kubuntu was set-up like this by default, it would save
me a headache as I run mostly gnome but occasionally
kde. I would not have been able to figure this out on
my own, I am not an IT person but work in Oil
Production.

Hurray ti worked. And KDE still seems to work.

The crash is a separate bug, namely bug 41865. I won't consider it here.

Jonathan, the GTK frontend has this code to avoid this problem:

for choice in choices:
if choice == '':

else:
button = gtk.RadioButton(firstbutton, choice, False)
if firstbutton is None:

There's no history in web browsing mode! In file management mode, I

[Bug 35995] Re: kio_tar and kio_zip not used automatically

2006-04-28 Thread Andy Braben
When I first used Linux, I was drawn to Konqueror and in particular the way
compressed files just open as if they are not compressed. I see no reason why
kubuntu has to alter the functionality of the default konqueror setup at all.
Modifying Konqueror is not ubuntu or KDE, nor intuitive.

I thank Daniel for his post on setting Kubuntu back to the default setting, and
found it a complete nuisance having to find this bug and carry out his useful

[Bug 41926] Software suspend is no longer located in /proc/software_suspend

2006-04-28 Thread Dan
Public bug reported:

Affects: kdeutils klaptopdaemon (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
klaptopdaemon has /proc/software_suspend hardcoded when checking to see
if a system has suspend2 enabled, this has changed to /proc/suspend2 in
recent versions of suspend2. As a result, even though I have
/usr/sbin/hibernate on my system (which it also checks for), it fails to
detect suspend2. Suspend2 if often the only choice for hibernation for
those of us where acpi methods fail (like my sony VGN-T350P)

What I am saying is this bug doesn't exists any more or it has been fixed in
the time while i was not maintaing X. Given that I got X again after one year
and catching up on bugs, I can see that this is not there anylonger. If it was

[Bug 41955] Normal user cannot share folders from home, even if authorised

[Bug 18069] Re: Syntax error in /etc/network/interfaces file

2006-04-28 Thread Luka Renko
knetworkconf has written partial line in /etc/network/interfaces if you
had an interface manually configured or managed by network-manager. This
is now respected and such interfaces are not written to

(static/dhcp/bootp).

Mattziu: you problem is duplicate of bug 18069 which will get in official repo

sunwave: are you using kcontrol or System Settings (from K-menu)? I have tried
hard and could not reproduce your problem with gateway with last version. Do
you have up-to-date Dapper? Did you add gateway on Routes tab (and set

[Bug 41962] No Audio CD in drive error trying to play cd with kaffeine

2006-04-28 Thread Yuriy Kozlov
Public bug reported:

Affects: kaffeine (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When inserting an audio CD and choosing to play it with kaffeine, kaffeine
shows this error:
No Audio CD in drive, or wrong path to device.
Please select correct drive:

The drop down menu is empty.

If I type in /dev/hdc, the CD plays fine.

If I eject the cd, then repeat, the same error returns.
If I type in /dev/hdc, press ok, exit kaffeine, and try playing it again (i.e.
by right clickin on the cd in media:/) it plays fine.
If I click cancel on the error the CD doesn't play and the error comes up again
if i try again.

This error also comes up if the cd is in /dev/hdd.

Clicking on Audio CD in the Go! tab in kaffeine works fine if the cd is
in /dev/hdc but the error comes up if it is in /dev/hdd.

In kaffeinesettingsxine engine parametersmedia the first thing there
is the audio cd location: /dev/hdc That explains why clicking on the cd
within kaffeine doesn't work if it is in /dev/hdd.

I did not have any problems with Audio CD's when I tried kaffeine 0.8.1
(another reason for bug #38951)
