Public bug reported: I noticed some SSL strangeness on Dapper Flight 7 The first example arises with the Fidelity web site because they check that the encryption level is sufficient, probably using a slightly flawed algorithm. 1) Go to kcontrol/crypto, enable everything Go to https://www.fidelity.com. Using the security icon in the konqueror status bar, you can check that it uses AES256-SHA. 2) Click the login button. Chances are that you go to a page explaining that you do not have 128 bit encryption. Note that this is working on breezy/kubuntu-3.5.2. 3) Return to the crypto configuration and select the 'most compatible' ciphers. This disable AES256-SHA in principle. Click apply. Reload the Fidelity home page. Check the encryption with the lock icon. Still AES256-SHA despite being disabled 4) Disable SSLv3 in the crypto dialog. This time Fidelity loads in SSLv2 128 bits. Login still does not work.. The second problem was reported in bug #32846 in kdepim. I am not sure they are related. I had similar problems a few years ago. They were caused by running kssl with an openssl version different from that used for compiling kssl. I check 'security issue' because ssl is a key security component. Malfunction is dangerous. - L. If I want to play a remote file in kaffeine (eg: ftp://ftp.funet.fi/.m/mirrors2/ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/events/kde-2-Meeting/big/kde2-001.mpg ) The file is dowloaded (in /tmp) and then played. I'm having the same problem in Dapper. The only way I can get it to work is: 1. Open Kaffeine 2. Click Audio CD on the "Go!" tab. 3. Click "Cancel" when the error message appears 4. Go to "Open URL" 5. Enter "media:/hdc" The CD then plays (usually). This is an incredibly annoying problem, and would most definitely turn away new users of Kubuntu. Arrrgghhsecond time I have to type this for some reason... Bullet points: 1 - Upgraded to Dapper last night. 2 - Kmail upgraded from 1.4 to 1.9.1 3 - I used to use a prefix directory on IMAP for mail in kamil 1.4. 4 - started kontact and got an error message saying "unrecognized prefix" 5 - kmail / imap proceeded to download EVERYTHING on the server. 6 - Everything kmail related came to a virtual standstill. 7 - Edited my account settings to but the prefix in teh new place.sorry - I forget exactly what...but added #mail/ to the 'Personal' box under Settings -> Configure Kmail ->Accounts -> Receiving 8 - Nothing really happened. 9 - Delted a bunch of files off the server to try speed things up. 10 - Changed the line (edited in step 7) to Mail/ 11 - restarted kmailcrash. the problem is that depending the laguage, the main toolbar gets very large. With french for example, it doesn't fit on the screen with 1280*1024 resolution. Hello, I think that the missing icons are a consequence of a different konqueror configuration. I was able to make them appear in the following way: open "System Settings" and choose "Panel", then, on the "Menus" tab check the "Konqueror profiles" box and apply the changes. Close "System Settings" and, from the main "K Menu" button, choose "Konqueror Profiles" -> "Midnight Commander". A konqueror window will open, then, from the "Settings" -> "Toolbars" menu, check the "Main Toolbar". The missing icons will appear, but only in this particular profile. To make them appear also in the normal "Kubuntu File Manager" profile you can remove the "Terminal Emulator" pane (right click on it) and one of the two View panes (right click on its bottom bar) and then, from the menu "Settings" -> "Save View Profile Midnight Commander ...", save the profile as "Kubuntu File Manager" (uncheck the "Save URLs in Profile" box in the popup window!). You may need to logout from kde session and login again to make the changes effective. It is interesting to see the differences from the default configuration file (/usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kde-profile/default/share/apps/konqueror/profiles/filemanagement) and the new one (~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles/filemanagement). Another point is that, after the new configuration, the konqueror menu voice "Settings" -> Load View Profile" has disappeared. Thank you for reporting this bug. There was a bug that was fixed in Dapper a long time ago, and it was fixed in upstream aswell. It only happens to people who are not up-to- date or use unofficial KDE < 3.5.2 packages on Breezy. However, this one seems different since it happens on recent Dapper. In the previous bug, you could reproduce by doing the following : 1) Open kontact 2) Open a new email and fill in the recipient field with anything. Do not close the email 3) Go to the kaddressbook section of Kontact 4) Close Kontact This is how you would lose all your contacts with the previous bug. Can you still reproduce it this way?
