[Bug 47412] Sys.Setngs:Usrs&Grps: orig primary grp not in sec. grp list

2006-05-29 Thread Brian Visel
Public bug reported:

When the primary group is changed, and it is not already in the
secondary groups list, it does not become visible without closing and
re-opening the 'User Account' window.

Steps to reproduce:
System Settings => Users and groups => (admin mode) => Modify a user.
User Account Window:
Change primary group.
Click "select" for Secondary groups.
Original primary group is not in the list.

Workaround:
After changing the primary group, click "ok", then re-open the "User Account"
window, and select secondary groups, or type group name in manually.

[Bug 47381] arts can overload gam_server (loading CPU) and at the same time fills user's ~/.xsession-errors to death with errors

2006-05-29 Thread mikmak
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I've been hit twice by this bug on a computer I installed for a friend with
dapper RC.
basically, artsd does something while speaking with gam_server leading to the
following error in ~/.xsession-errors :
invalid length 24902
Failed to process 45 bytes from server
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
Failed to process 26 bytes from server

it does that a few times ( ~50 times maybe ) then the error is changed to :
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
invalid length 24902
end from FAM server connection
(probably something that protects the FAM server from too much connexions ? but
that does not work since it actually makes gam_server eat the whole CPU)

there are about 20-30 of these lines every 5 seconds
so it fills the hard drive pretty quick.

these errors keeps going on and on until someone kills manually artsd.

workaround : disable arts in kcontrol ;)

but entering number with french decimal point (.) triggers a syntax
error in the applet. It works only when using the comma (,).

but the results are given with the right decimal points (.)

  example :
  7*45.7  ENTER   ==> syntax error
7*45,7 ENTER ==> 319.9 (notice the . which is right)
  319.9*2 ENTER ==> syntax error

I tried after verifying that KDE local are rightly set to french. But
defaults for this local is ',' as decimal point.
Then I changed decimal point to '.' and restarted KDE.

[Bug 45120] Re: mouse over the program shows in french "_n :"

2006-05-29 Thread Benoît Turpin
Is it a translation issue ?
I don't think so, I've just checked the strings you quote.
It would be better to open a new bug.

[Bug 30207] Re: media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly

2006-05-29 Thread Jason Straight \(LeeJunFan\)
well mine's actually an external, group == plugdev, /dev/sda, but adding
myself to disk nonetheless did the trick. I realize disk is a security
risk, as it gives full access to hd's as well. It would seem there is
something with the actual mounting process of hal/udev that's using disk
wrongly.

Thing is that with my external I WAS experiencing the same issues
mounting floppies as everyone else even though I was in group plugdev
and the device had group ownership of plugdev. I'm really not sure why
grp disk comes into play here.

on an HP nx6110 Fn+End which provides num lock works and so do the
brightness ones (Fn+F9 and Fn+F10) but Fn+F4 which should switch display

i would say that being able to give presentations was the most important
use of the Fn key

[Bug 47257] system tray doesn't resize properly when changing panel position

2006-05-29 Thread tgrzejsz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

I'am using Kubuntu Dapper Drake and I have a following issue (which I
remember also from Breezy): when changing panel's position from
horizontal to vertical system tray doesn't resize properly and applets
draw themselves in a way that they are partially hidden. My panel is
fairly thin, maybe it is because of that? But when I restart KDE with
panel in vertical postion, then applets get a hint and draw themselves
ok. Then again, it is enough to move panel to horizotal position and
back to vertical, to break things again (until next restart).

[Bug 47237] Re: kdeprint breaks with cups 1.2.0

2006-05-29 Thread Daniel Brownlees
** Description changed:

- The recent upload of the final cups 1.2.0 has brougth the issue
+ The recent upload of the final cups 1.2.0 has brought the issue
described in [1] up. Quick overview: kdeprint has been using private
cups APIs, and those APIs have finally been removed in cups 1.2.0,
breaking kdeprint (manifests as being unable to use TCP printing for
  me).

There seem to be patches available, and in kde svn apparently, though
I'm not entirely sure which ones apply. See kde bugs [2]#115891 and
[3]#124157. Seems likely to be fixed for 3.5.3, though again I haven't
done enough research to be sure.

Thanks. So /dev/fd0 is correct, and you shouldn't be in group 'disk' to
