[Bug 312347] Re: Dell mini froze when installing Amarok
In my opintion this sounds like something ate all your RAM and/or CPU. Also, since you were able to move your mice ... a Ctrl+Alt+Backspace would probably have been enough to gain control again. This key combination triggers a restart of the graphical system (called X-server or just Xes. After killing and restarting it works fine.), which is usually healthier than a complete reset and mostly works when you can still get some kind of mouse movement (a moving mouse means that X can still recive data, so the key combination ought to work as well). However, such a high consumption usually shouldn't get caused by just starting an application :) Did you have anything plugged in? e.g. iPod or another media device, USB storage drive... What applications where open at the time (all you can remember anyway)? Please document as precise as possible what you exactly did in order to trigger this issue. (e.g. started Add/Remove Software - searched for Amarok - Installed Amarok - started Amarok via Menu - Multimedia - Amarok - opened file via menubar Playlist - Add Media - crash) just as an example. In general the more information you can give about the circumstances the more likely it is that we can find the problem and resolve it. [Bug 312549] [NEW] Powerdevil is incredibly slow switching power modes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace Powerdevil is very slow switching power modes (powersave, performance, etc) upon user request in the applet that pops up when you click the taskbar icon or plasmoid. It takes in excess of 15 seconds. This also effects the Sleep and Hibernate buttons. I am using Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty 64-bit with all updates applied. ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Powerdevil is incredibly slow switching power modes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312549 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 312550] [NEW] Powerdevil's display brightness is not updated on power mode change
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace On my Dell Vostro 1500 with Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty 64-bit, the display brightness slider is not properly updated when switching power modes, whether it is automatically or manually. The actual switching of display brightness does work, however. The slider does work, though. If the power mode and brightness have been changed and I attempt to use the slider, the display brightness snaps to the brightness shown by the slider. Otherwise, it stays correct. If it helps, I have an Nvidia 8600m GT card on which I use the Nvidia 180.18 drivers. ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Powerdevil's display brightness is not updated + Powerdevil's display brightness is not updated on power mode change -- Powerdevil's display brightness is not updated on power mode change https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312550 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 312569] [NEW] Unable to make any changes in Date / Time kcontrol
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: systemsettings-kde4 I'm running the KDE 4.2 Beta 2 packages in Kubuntu 8.10. The Date Time systemsettings module does not properly call kdesudo so any operations it tries (such as changing the time, utilizing NTP, or changing the time zone), fail. When I enter the Date Time module and make any change and click Apply the following message boxes pop up: Unable to contact time server: . Can not set date. Error setting new time zone. If I run systemsettings from a terminal, I get the following output: systemsettings(15442) Dtime::save: Set date QDateTime(Tue Dec 23 22:32:42 2008) kdesu: Unknown option 'attach'. kdesu: Use --help to get a list of available command line options. I have also tried running systemsettings using kdesudo and sudo with the same result. It appears that the applet attempts to run the commands using kdesudo regardless of whether it is running as root or not. ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to make any changes in Date / Time kcontrol https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312569 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 312591] [NEW] kdenetwork-filesharing will not start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdenetwork The kdenetwork-filesharing package will not start in Kubuntu 9.04. It installs successfully and a Samba icon appears in System Settings, but double-clicking it does nothing. However, it is possible to start it manually using the kcmshell4 executable. ** Affects: kdenetwork (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kdenetwork-filesharing will not start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312591 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdenetwork in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 312593] [NEW] multimedia keys do not work when amarok is in background
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amarok The multimedia keys do not work in Amarok unless Amarok has system attention. If it is in the background or minimized, only the play/pause button works and the rest do not. I have confirmed this behavior using both Amarok 1.4 and 2.0 on both Kubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 (both 64-bit). The issue occurs on every system I have tested it on. ** Affects: amarok (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- multimedia keys do not work when amarok is in background https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312593 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to amarok in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
