[Bug 318169] [NEW] Wireless connection always enabled on startup

2009-01-17 Thread Romain Henriet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

I have a wifi card in my computer but I use a wired connection. Thus I
disable wireless using knetworkmanager. However when I reboot my
computer, wireless is enabled again. Shouldn't it be disabled until I
enable it manually ?

[Bug 318263] [NEW] knetworkmanager does not appear in the system tray and is displayed as a normal application

2009-01-17 Thread nano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

Hi,

I am using ubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2 (4.1.96 ).

When I log in, Knetworkmanager sometimes starts as a normal application in a
classical window
and doesn't appear in the system tray.
The network connection works fine.

I attached a screenshot to show you what happened.

Best regards
Nano

Frank wrote:
 Try editing /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf.
 In section [ifupdown], set managed=true.

I can confirm this solution works.

Simply don't forget to restart NetworkManager, just changing the file
will not have immediate effect.

(with root privileges)
$: /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart

[Bug 318327] [NEW] cannot control backlight on lenovo t400 with KDE 4

2009-01-17 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

A strange bug occurs while I'am running KDE 4.2 packages on Jaunty up to date
and on Intrepid as well with the backported packages.
I started to use Intrepid with Gnome on my Lenovo t400 with Intrepid and the
backlight was ok, even if it had some strange way to repond to the key events,
at least I could manage it, and in Intrepid it is solved by just using a 2.6.28
kernel under Gnome.
But with KDE 4.2, there is no way for me to even change in any way the
backlight setting, here is an extract of my dmesg , which pretty much says it
should be able to change the backlight (proof is that gnome is able):
