[Bug 498524] [NEW] remove defunct Pirate Bay tracker

2009-12-19 Thread seahen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ktorrent

The Pirate Bay has shut down its tracker (http://torrentfreak.com/the-
pirate-bay-tracker-shuts-down-for-good-091117/), but for some reason
still includes it (as both HTTP and UDP) in torrents it serves. These
trackers can't be deleted, since they're the default tracker. Ktorrent
would work better with torrents from TPB if it removed the tracker (and,
ideally, could remove other trackers once maintainers learned they were
defunct).

[Bug 498683] [NEW] Cannot change from Ayatana notifications to standard kde notifications in KDE SC 4.4 beta 1

2009-12-19 Thread Jonathan Jesse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

In a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 I enabled the Ayatana notification system
and have since updated to the newest beta following the instructions on
kubuntu.org.
Now there is not a way, that I can see to change back to normal kde
notifications. I am getting som weird notifications related things I think
because of this

[Bug 391882] [NEW] Make Samba easy to disable and enable in KDE

2009-12-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This is one thing that I think should be easy but it isn't: disabling Samba. In
Windows, there is a checkbox for disabling file sharing, why not KDE?

Under Kubuntu 8.10, KDE 4.2.2 in System Settings, there is no place to find a
checkbox that essentially says: Enable/Disable Samba. Even the detailed
Samba System Settings panel can configure everything else about Samba, but
not this.

This kind of request has popped up over time, as searching Google for advice on
how to disable Samba produces this top-rated page. It solves the problem by
advising to uninstall Samba, which is what I had to do too. This doesn't seem
intuitive, usable or safe (will my settings be preserved if I want to
reinstall? will I mess up the uninstallation process and harm my system? are
thoughts I had.) I tried looking for a CLI way to disable Samba, but gave up
after I realized that it was out of the scope of my experience.

It would seem that the most logical place to put an Enable Samba checkbox
would be in the System Settings - Sharing panel. Actually, it would be more
clear to say, Enable file and printer sharing with Windows users, as the term
Samba is a technical term that means nothing to newbies, myself included when
I came to the Linux ecosystem.

(This was originally posted to the KDE brainstorm forums, where it has
received favorable votes of support: http://forum.kde.org/make-samba-
easy-to-disable-and-enable-t-61594.html)

Also, there's another quite similar problem.

I installed Lucid Kubuntu, I set automatically login. But kdm still pop
up and ask me to input username and password. Sometimes it will
automatically login, sometimes it won't.
