[Bug 500065] [NEW] [Karmic, Jaunty] KDE powerdevil stops shifting power profiles

2009-12-23 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Hi,

This is probably a duplicate of #345492, but this one has been closed as
"invalid", so I submit as new with ubuntu-bug attached output.

System : Asus EeePC 1002HA - Kubuntu Karmic (also with Jaunty)

Symptom : After a few number of system suspend / resumes, not always the
first time, powerdevil stops shifting power profiles between
"performance" and "powersave" when AC is plugged or unplugged, even
though KDE continues notifying properly that power was plugged or
unplugged and powerdevil icon displays correct power status. Only the
"automatic power profile change" stops working until next reboot.

[Bug 312549] Re: Powerdevil is incredibly slow switching power modes

2009-12-23 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
I suffer from this bug in Karmic, and have noticed that powerdevil is
extremely slow shitfing profiles when system on battery, and does it at
"normal" speed when system on AC power.

[Bug 475530] Re: KIMPanel is unusable in Kubuntu 9.10

2009-12-23 Thread Yaohan Chen
I had to do the following to make the kimpanel plasmoid work with ibus:

1. Install kimpanel's ibus backend, which is not included in the Ubuntu
package.

wget
'http://websvn.kde.org/*checkout*/trunk/KDE/kdeplasma-addons/applets/kimpanel/backend/ibus/panel.py'
sudo mkdir /usr/share/ibus/ui/kimpanel
sudo cp panel.py /usr/share/ibus/ui/kimpanel

2. Make ibus-daemon use kimpanel. I do this by restarting ibus-daemon
with the --panel parameter after KDE starts. There are notes about this
at the bottom

cat > ~/.kde/Autostart/reload-ibus-daemon . If this
is actually the cause, maybe ibus needs to be modified to wait for the panel to
be loaded, or Ubuntu needs to have a way to delay launching ibus-daemon until
KDE is fully loaded?

[Bug 499952] Re: KDE System Monitor clears xml when disk is full

2009-12-23 Thread Jason
Just a quick addendum, the information in the previous reply was added
automatically by the bug reporter in Ubuntu and doesn't seem to contain
the actual errors I described above, or much information that seems
particularly useful in troubleshooting this, probably because I selected
to report the bug from the Help menu in System Monitor.

Also, System Monitor worked the first time I opened it when the disk was
full, it was only after subsequent reopenings (just a couple) that it
ended up clearing the xml files. I assume that it actually cleared them
on exiting.

[Bug 471303] Re: K3b multisession fails

2009-12-23 Thread SABCD
Would seem to indicate that the problem is in the backends.
GnomeBaker, K3b, and Brasero all fail. Not sure what the trace files in
the previous post are, but in both cases wodim seems to generate an
error.

Problem with that theory is that if I go into Arch and uninstall just
K3b and then install an old K3b, version 1.0.5. (from KDE 3.5.10)
(which I did in Arch since it is lot easier to do there, than in
Ubuntu) the bug disappears, that is, it can append to a multisession
DVD without issues and it does not fail. In using the legacy K3b it
should be noted that it is using the same backend as the new K3b, that
is cdrkit 1.1.9 (which includes mkisofs, wodim, and genisoimage ) and
dvd+rw-tools 7.1 (which includes growisofs)

[Bug 499952] [NEW] KDE System Monitor clears xml when disk is full

2009-12-23 Thread Jason
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

If the partition in which KDE System Monitor is installed on is full, System
Monitor will clear (delete all contents of) the files containing most of the
layout. The files affected seem to be:
~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/ProcessTable.sgrd
~/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/SystemLoad2.sgrd

The story behind this is, I ran out of space on the partition I
installed Ubuntu and Kubuntu on. (Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 with kubuntu-desktop
installed.) While trying to figure out what was wrong I opened and
closed System Monitor several times. On starting System Monitor I
recieve two separate errors telling me these files are not valid XML
files:

The file /home/phantom/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/ProcessTable.sgrd does not
contain valid XML.
The file /home/phantom/.kde/share/apps/ksysguard/SystemLoad2.sgrd does not
contain valid XML.

The System Monitor window then appears but is just a large, empty (gray)
window, with some menus at the top and a status bar at the bottom.

I have browsed to the directory to confirm that both files exist but are
0 bytes.

[Bug 499938] [NEW] kaffeine-1.0 lacks deinterlace support

2009-12-23 Thread Roland Hieber
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Since updating to karmic and kaffeine-1.0~pre2-0ubuntu1, it is no longer
possible to apply a deinterlacing filter for the video stream, the
Playback -> Video menu which existed in 0.8.7 (from jaunty) is simply
not there anymore. Furthermore, I am disappointed about the philosophy
to remove features just because porting to the Qt4 and KDE4 release and
I can not understand how such an unmature software could make it into
the karmic release.

[Bug 498683] Re: Cannot change from Ayatana notifications to standard kde notifications in KDE SC 4.4 beta 1

2009-12-23 Thread Aurélien Gâteau
As far as I know Ayatana notification patch has not been and will not be
applied to KDE 4.4 beta packages. If the checkbox is checked you should
get Plasma notifications, if it is not checked you should get knotify
old-school notifications (grey box with a 2 pixels black border)

About Kopete notifications, this might be related to Kopete itself.

You might want to do more testing with notify-send (from libnotify-bin
package), a command line tool to create notifications:

notify-send -i kde Hello "This is a text"

should show a notification with a KDE logo, "Hello" as a title and "This
is a text" as a body

[Bug 499781] [NEW] Kubuntu panel's desktop pager always show all window buttons for multi desktop

2009-12-23 Thread bzhao
Public bug reported:

Hi sir,

Maybe this not bug, maybe it a bug to me only.

With Kubuntu 9.10 I have just switched to Kubuntu desktop from Gnome
desktop, the problem I am having is that I don't want to see other
desktop's window button at destop pager of the bottom panel when I am
focusing on a desktop. I haved tried a lot to fix this issue but the
result is a failure. When I am using KDE deskop on other Linux system,
there is a option in system setting obviously to do that.

I know that all windows buttons are shown as default, but I have been
using kde desktop in my own way.

With Kubuntu 8.04, I also trace and find a file name ktaskrc(blow is its
conten) have option(ShowAllWindows) to control that.
