[Bug 861670] [NEW] Audio corruption of m4a files with phonon gstreamer backend
Public bug reported: I'm using Amarok to play my music, and very nice it is too until it encounters some m4a files. I bought these files through iTunes on my Mac, though I'm not sure if that's relevant. What happens is that initially the files play OK but after about 10 minutes or so the sound becomes distorted (it sounds like a ring modualtor effect). It always happens with this particular album after 2 tracks, no matter where I start. I don't have any other albums in this format to try. Quitting and restarting Amarok clears the problem for another 2 tracks. I haven't noticed the same behaviour when playing mp3 files I switched to phonon-backend-mplayer and two things happened: (1) The sound corruption goes away (2) The sound quality generally improves overall. So I'm happy with mplayer thanks, but I thought I'd log this seeing as I found it. What were you thinking giving us KDE fans a gnome-based audio engine? ;-) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: phonon-backend-gstreamer 4:4.7.0really4.5.0-0ubuntu2.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.51~ppa1~loms~natty-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Sep 28 19:24:06 2011 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: phonon-backend-gstreamer UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-08-26 (32 days ago) ** Affects: phonon-backend-gstreamer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to phonon-backend-gstreamer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861670 Title: Audio corruption of m4a files with phonon gstreamer backend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phonon-backend-gstreamer/+bug/861670/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
