[Bug 947785] [NEW] Digikam crashes when selecting a camera to import images from

2012-03-06 Thread Julian Edwards
Public bug reported:

When selecting import -> [camera name] digikam crashes instantly. This
is basically https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268267

I can work around it by running it like this:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libusb-0.1.so.4 digikam

I'm not sure whether this is a packaging or upstream issue.

[Bug 948108] [NEW] Failed to install libqtcore4:i386: conffile './etc/xdg/Trolltech.conf' is not in sync with other instances of the same package

2012-03-06 Thread Alexey Rusakov

I use a x86_64 Oneiric Ocelot, today upgraded to the 12.04 beta. Then I
removed Skype and Aquaria, which were the only i386 programs on my
machine, in order to make sure multiarch is reinstalled clearly.

As per my previous message, these types of errors are generally client

This past week apport got a fix for an xcb threading assert it hits;
possibly this issue is resolved by that.

[Bug 943073] Re: Try Kubuntu on 12.04 on netbook is unusable mess

2012-03-06 Thread AaronPeterson
ok, maybe we can change this bug to there is no link to system settings
or a terminal in the live cd netbook interface for kubuntu.

It may not be plasma netbooks fault per se, but it is a problem with the
live cd not having any usefull links, and no obvious help to do
anything.

The netbook interface off of the netbook live usb /cd is unusable.

If somebody wants the plasma netbook confusion to be default, ok, I need
to make my own distro, but look, it could be made usable and I don't
know what package is responsible for the desktop layout for kubuntu.

I filed bugs with KDE because they don't have a way to set default
behavior (easily, there are installation specific settings mixed in with
preferences in their config files)

Is this a bug with the kubuntu-desktop package? does it set up the
desktop and the shortcuts and links?

[Bug 943073] Re: Try Kubuntu on 12.04 on netbook is unusable mess

2012-03-06 Thread AaronPeterson
@scott, it was broken in 11.10 as well... I think it has been broken
since the netbook interface popped up. This go around (12.04) I knew
roughly what to look for.

This interface is not discoverable and is so very very hard to use.
Ironically the kde desktop also uses screen space more effectively on a
netbook. So, We just need shortcuts to system settings and some help or
switch back to desktop and I will be able to use the computer. I really
really need the netbook interface to be more like the 8.04 8.10 inteface
where it actually helped. Making me move the cursor all over the place
to huge icons that waste screen space is not efficient.

If I haven't driven everyone off, I have some ideas that can help make
the interface more usable, but right now it gives me a headache

[Bug 943073] Re: Try Kubuntu on 12.04 on netbook is unusable mess

2012-03-06 Thread Scott Kitterman
The one bit about the favorites being missing in the live session is
probably fixable in kubuntu-meta, so this is a good package for the bug.

** Description changed:

- I think it is something to do with the plasma-netbook interface.
-
- I know that when I installed kubuntu on the netbook with a liveUSB drive
- a couple versions ago, it at least had a link to system settings so I
- could figure out how to get rid of the netbook interface.
-
-
- It is a huge pain to try to get a run command, system settings, internet,
drivers... anything.
-
- I highly suggest removing the plasma-netbook interface because it
- doesn't do anything other than clutter and confuse If it can be made
- usable, it should be as a user selectable option. but it simply does
- not work.
+ Standard favorites missing in search and launch during live session.

** Summary changed:

- Try Kubuntu on 12.04 on netbook is unusable mess
