[Bug 827815] Re: Can't log into KDE, with error: Could not start D-bus, can you call qdbus?
I have recently updated to kubuntu 13.10 in 4 different computers, with 2 different partitions in each computer = 8 partitions. In two instances out of 8 I encountered this problem. At least one of them was a 64 bit installation. The first case was a HP notebook, and a pre-release version of 13.10, that I installed in early March. The first upgrade from 12.10 went OK, but then a later update lead to this problem with the qdbus. At that time I got rid of the problem by installing qt4-dev-tools, if I remember right. Today I encountered the same problem the second time in a 64 bit installation. The distribution upgrade seemed to run normally, but when I started up the coputer in the new version I got this "Could not start D-Bus". This time I fixed it by running sudo apt-get install qdbus in tty1, which resulted in the installation of both qdbus and qtchooser and the removal of the old qdbus:i386 and qtchooser:i386. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827815 Title: Can't log into KDE, with error: Could not start D-bus, can you call qdbus? Some decoration do not support the help-button at all, others get it right. I do not think a disabled look is appropriate, because the general behaviour (for example on windows and other WMs) is to completely hide the button, when its not available. This is useful, because most windows do not have this button, and only some utility-windows do have it. I rather meant keeping fixed positions in general. Windows does not, but eg. OSX does (while i doubt there's a "what's this" button, but unless there's only the close button, either the minimize or zoom button will just be disabled) As for the "what's this" and some other buttons, i'd strictly promote the Bespin approach to stack them in one button and scroll through them at (rare) demand ;-) Reply at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde- workspace/+bug/1175299/comments/5 ** Changed in: kdebase-workspace Status: Unknown => New ** Changed in: kdebase-workspace Importance: Unknown => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175299 Title: kwin Plastik decoration displays the help-button wrong To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/1175299/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1174689] Re: Nvidia/Dual screen - No Taskbar/Kdemenu on default install Kubuntu 13.04
** Description changed: On a new install I don't get a taskbar(panel) or kde menu - I only see one panel with just activitives on it - i.e only half a desktop... This has occurred on multiple machines (all with Nvidia cards and dual monitors) - I have to add the panel manually or I don't have a taskbar/menu. + I have to add the panel manually or I don't have a taskbar/menu - you + have one panel with just the activity launcher. This occurs before installing the nvidia binary driver. It's happened on 3 different work stations (all dual monitor/nvidia) More info on this reddit thread - http://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1d48wb/kubuntu_1304_released/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: kde-workspace 4:4.10.2-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29-generic 3.8.8 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Apr 30 10:54:50 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-26 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: kde-workspace UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174689 Title: Nvidia/Dual screen - No Taskbar/Kdemenu on default install Kubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1174689/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1155327] Re: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt()
Echoing #71, I have Intel graphics, and since upgrading to 13.04, Skype segfaults on startup. This fix, which apparently works for those with Nvidia graphics drivers, is ineffective. Skype still crashes for me with intel graphics. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qtwebkit-source in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1155327 Title: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+bug/1155327/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
