I have the same issue. After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.5, kalarm notifies that he can not find ktimezoned. Before upgrading to Ubuntu 10.5 this problem did not exist. This package is not an official KDE project. It has been abandoned by it owner as far as I can tell. The problem is that it is a qt4 build and will not work in qt5 environment. Someone will have to port it to qt5, which out of scope for Kubuntu.
