[Bug 1505660] Re: ~/.cache/upstart/startkde.log fills up every available disk space
Something is MAJORLY wrong with something... I can't even login anymore (into KDE). Like another user somewhere else said, normal users might just have to give up on their PC in this case :/. Fortunately, I'm an advanced user and could log in remotely from another PC and find out that two partitions had been filled up entirely: 1) Firstly, the partition containing /home/carlo/.cache/upstart : -rw-r- 1 carlo carlo 38G Mar 24 01:05 /home/carlo/.cache/upstart/startkde.log that's 38 GB of repeated spam, and then, because this partition (.cache) ran full, 2) also my home directory partition was filled: -rw--- 1 carlo carlo 1.5G Mar 24 00:29 .xsession-errors with the repeated spam of 20739073 times: init: Failed to write to log file /home/carlo/.cache/upstart/startkde.log Really? 20739073 times? Of course it only stopped because then the partition was full (which only had 1.5GB free). The spam in /home/carlo/.cache/upstart/startkde.log exists of an infinitely number of times the repeat of: cannot connect alsa-jack.jackP.3627.0:out_000 to system:playback_1 AL lib: (EE) ALCplaybackAlsa_mixerProc: start failed: Input/output error Server is not running Which isn't that weird since I have to start the JACK server by hand. Now I'm sure that whatever is flooding with this log message is in error, but imho also upstart shouldn't create log files of 38 GB at 100 MB/s because anything is flooding it with repeated lines of messages... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1505660 Title: ~/.cache/upstart/startkde.log fills up every available disk space To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-meta/+bug/1505660/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1534263] Re: [FFe] [merge request] Import cmake-3.4 series to Ubuntu Xenial 16.04LTS
I tried to test the ~1500 downstream packages of CMake to see if the new version has any generic problems. I setup a pair of jobs for each of them. One builds the package with the standard CMake version of Xenial, the other uses the CMake 3.5 package fomr Joses PPA. The build steps these jobs perform as well as how I set them up are described here: https://github.com/dirk- thomas/ubuntu_xenial_cmake While our build farm hasn't finsihed all of the 3k jobs yet the results looks promising. All ran jobs have a consistent result with the different CMake version - not a single one of the 900 pairs already finished diverge: http://54.183.26.131:8080/view/UbuntuCMake/ This job provides an easier to read summary: http://54.183.26.131:8080/view/UbuntuCMake/job/_dashboard_ubuntu_cmake/ Should we move forward and use the CMake 3.5 package form Joses PPA instead of 3.4? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to cmake in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1534263 Title: [FFe] [merge request] Import cmake-3.4 series to Ubuntu Xenial 16.04LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cmake/+bug/1534263/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK
Yes, when the user language is e.g. English, the 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf files are not in effect. But if I understand it correctly, the default (if that's the correct way to say it) of Noto is not Chinese, but Japanese. At least Japanese is listed first in a fc-match listing, when no fontconfig .conf files are in effect; please see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1540063/comments/16 So possibly fonts-noto-cjk may result in proper rendering out of the box for any CJK language, as long as no fontconfig .conf file messes it up. That's why I found it worth a try to put those Japanese lines first in 64-language-selector-prefer.conf. tomoe_musashi reported in comment #81 that if does not affect Chinese rendering. (The issue he mentioned - *Takao* used in Firefox for non- lang-specified content - appears to be unrelated.) So, Aron, can you please test? Sure, if the Japanese lines in 64-language-selector-prefer.conf affect Chinese rendering adversely, we should move them downwards (and with that make it worse for Japanese...). But there is no reason to prefer Chinese over Japanese just for the sake of it, is there? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1468027 Title: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fontconfig/+bug/1468027/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK
If I understand correctly, when the user language is set to English, thus none of 69-language specific configurations are active, this configuration would take effect. Current configuration will make the ja variant take precedence over any of the Chinese ones, while the default of noto looks to be Chinese SC - which was exactly the cause of the issue for Japanese. Overriding it with ja as the first one will lead to similar issue to Chinese characters and I believe that's not what we want.
