[Bug 1575781] Re: Firefox 46 crashes on Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) with Oxygen-GTK3

2016-05-02 Thread Claude Krantz
As the OP I like to thank the maintainers for fixing that bug in oxygen-
gtk3 so quickly. Many thanks for your work.

I would like to add that I now switched to Firefox ESR (from upstream)
in order to keep a pure GTK2 system until EOL of precise. Looks like a
viable alternative for me after all ...

Nonetheless, after some reading, I second the general consensus (see eg.
http://www.chriscoulson.me.uk/blog/?p=111) that Ubuntu LTS should ship
the latest "stable" release of Firefox in contrast to the ESR branch.
For most users, a Firefox evolving in sync with upstream is probably
more important than absolute long-time stability of the software. This
post is here essentially to point other precise users to the possibility
of using Firefox ESR as an option to stick to GTK2 if they like to.

In that sense: Keep up the good work.

Claude

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2016-05-02 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Sorry to bother you again, but...

I tested to replace the single "super" OTC file with 7 weight specific
OTC files, and it seems like this is sufficient to fix "the Thin issue"
in Chrome/Chromium. So I have uploaded a simpler proposal to the PPA,
without the additional fonts-noto-cjk-extras package.

I would of course appreciate if some could test it, to make sure I
didn't overlook something.

https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/fonts-noto-cjk

(Please remember to uninstall the now obsolete, and possibly
conflicting, fonts-noto-cjk-extras.)

[Bug 1548051] Re: baloo takes up most of my CPU

2016-05-02 Thread Marc Branchaud
I upgraded to 16.04 and the file indexing was causing my whole PC to
suffer from temporary lockups. Even remote SSH logins wouldn't respond.

I have over 200GB of stuff in my home directory, and I've had problems
with file indexing ever since KDE introduced it. I've had to manually
disable it EVERY time I've upgraded.

Unfortunately, this time around I misdiagnosed the problem, and spent a
week thinking I had a bad hard drive, then maybe wonky kernel/graphics
drivers (I was getting "NMI watchdog: BUG" messages on the console).
Huge waste of time.

Why can't the file-indexing get it right? Why can't the damn thing just
STAY OFF across upgrades?

[Bug 1577379] [NEW] Wrong install path for kio_kamera.so and kcm_kamera.so => "The shared Library was not found"

2016-05-02 Thread Tom Fields
Public bug reported:

Hi,

in similar fashion than for the systemd kcm module:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-config-systemd/+bug/1451295

the kcm_kamera.so

and also the kio_kamera.so

are installed in:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/, while the system expects them in:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/

Workaround is:
ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/kcm_kamera.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kcm_kamera.so
ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/kio_kamera.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kio_kamera.so

but this should be fixed in the packages.

This is maybe a similar issue as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kamera/+bug/1556540, however I
do not have any kubuntu-ppa activated.

[Bug 1451728] Re: [master] kde-config-telepathy-accounts package install error

2016-05-02 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Hi Scarlett, the packages failed to build because the
"upstream_enforce_accounts-glib_version.patch" patch won't work without
this other commit (which upstream added later):
http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kaccounts-
integration.git=commitdiff=abb50d9263941770212cab8f57b8c2a23e58d351

My advice, however, is to drop the "upstream_enforce_accounts-
glib_version.patch" altogether, and instead bump the libaccounts-glb-dev
version in the debian/control file to ">= 1.21". This has the same
effect, but is less risky.
