[Bug 1576500] Re: Plasma fails to load: "all shell packages missing"

2016-05-05 Thread Darren Peets
Doesn't quite fix it for me.

Purging and reinstalling snapd had no effect.

~/.local/share/plasma already had one thing in it, so I created a
variety of new links into /usr/share/plasma/*. That gave me a KDE
splash screen, the popup about plasmashell being missing went away, and
the crash report dialog was for baloo-file instead of krunner. Still no
taskbar, widgets, wallpaper, etc.

Creating a link for /var/lib/snapd/desktop/plasma or making the link and
purging and reinstalling snapd again (the link survived the purge) had
no effect. So I still get to go through the same workaround
thunderbird>chromium>konsole>teamviewer>plasmashell.

After doing all this, the second instance of KDE lost its taskbar. Had
to create it again from the right-click menu on the desktop. The new
one looks different, so perhaps it was previously loading the 15.10
version somehow.

Also, when the second instance of X starts, the first thing that appears
is the login screen, which looks like the Kubuntu 15.10 version. When I
lock the screen, I get the 16.04 screen locker. The former displays the
time in a localized format based on the physical location of the
computer (China), the latter displays the time using the system
language/localization (Canadian English).

So I'm wondering if something moved around between the two versions, but
without updating an important config file somewhere.

Tells me you are trying to install version 5.18.0 over 5.21.0 from where did
you get 5.21.0+p16.04+git20160430.0813?

Anyway, you cannot do it this way, you must purge whatever PPA you got
5.21.0 from.

Wow, I never would have found that. Can you please file a bug against snapd?
Seems to be a show breaker.
Cheers,
Scarlett

[Bug 1576500] Re: Plasma fails to load: "all shell packages missing"

2016-05-05 Thread jklasdf
Alright thanks for the help scarlett.

I looked into it a bit more. Purging snapd for me seems to solve the
problem: running strace -f on krunner, it seemed to be trying to access
~/.local/share/plasma and /var/lib/snapd/desktop/plasma instead of the
correct location /usr/share/plasma. I temporarily created a symlink for
~/.local/share/plasma to point to /usr/share/plasma, and did an aptitude
purge snapd, and that seems to have solved the problem so far.

[Bug 1451728] Re: [master] kde-config-telepathy-accounts package install error

2016-05-05 Thread Scarlett Clark
LOL the whole point of the patches and this mess was to avoid that as our users
(Kubuntu) will end up bringing in all of Unity. That is NOT an option. I was
under the impression this patch was suppose to fix all of this?
Perhaps something else needs a rebuild. I will absolutely not put a dep on
online-accounts

[Bug 1575781] Re: Firefox 46 crashes on Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) with Oxygen-GTK3

2016-05-05 Thread Bernhard
I have the same problems with graphical artifacts like white bars in the
address search bar, in websites, when marking something, and the
mouseover-text is black on black background, the scrollbar shows black
artifacts.

There is also no space anymore between the text of the context menu, or the
bookmark window or the noscript menu .
That's why the menus are very small.
Furthermore the bookmark bar is pressed together, so the icons and text are
overlapping.
The form fields and buttons are very small for the text in general.

The "Save-As-"-Dialog has also problems with text not fitting in the form
fields.
The navigation through the folders-bar is also overlapping with the arrows and
text.

These problems are also in Kubuntu 14.04 , not only 12.04.

I installed the last working versions from website, but it makes no difference.
https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=oxygen-gtk.git

12.04:
oxygen-gtk2-1.4.6.tar.bz2
oxygen-gtk3-1.2.2.tar.bz2

14.04.
oxygen-gtk2-1.4.6.tar.bz2
oxygen-gtk3-1.4.1.tar.bz2

[Bug 1578608] [NEW] System Settings crashed during exit processing

2016-05-05 Thread Gert Brinkmann
Public bug reported:

Hello,

please see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355711

First the solution to this issue:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355711#c32
"This bug is fixed since KDE Frameworks version 5.19, but Ubuntu LTS 16.04 only
ships 5.18 version. Please report this to the bug tracker of your distribution."

Second I am copying my report from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362194

Start the KDE system-settings and view the following setting page:
 - Apperance
   - Workspace Theme
 - Look And Feel

Now close the window (closing it by using the closing button of the
window decoration leads to the crash, too), and the crash happens. The
crash can be reproduced every time.

It seems to crash only if you have enabled the classic tree view for the
system settings.

Greetings
Gert
