[Bug 1816196] [NEW] okular version in repository is too old, and fails with embedded movies
You have been subscribed to a public bug: The okular version in the repositories is version 1.3.3, but the current version is 1.7. The version in the repos is more than a year old, and had known bugs at the time that it was adopted there (apparently to the frustration of the maintainers of okular). And this version, does not have even the capabilities of the older version that was in the repos for Ubuntu 16.04, at least as regards movies. It is a bit frustrating to have a functionality that worked beautifully for years, that then goes away, and there is no apparent concern on anybody's part. If you want one that is current and works with embedded movies, you could try the snap package. This version is a bit more recent (1.6.6), but somehow is even worse, since it just crashes if you try to run an embedded movie. You might want to compile it. That was fun. It required installing a bunch of stuff, being careful not to ruin my existing library. Waited several hours to compile, and then find out it didn't work for some reason. I gave up after wasting more than a whole day. Could I somehow just go back to an old version that works? Here are some details: Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release:18.04 okular: Installed: 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: okular (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- okular version in repository is too old, and fails with embedded movies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816196 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to okular in Ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1806224] Re: Desktop icons can be incorrected placed on the Desktop at login
This seems to be a timing issue. I've only ever seen this on my desktop system, which had HDDs. On my laptop (with SSDs) it didn't happen, even though the desktop set-up was essentially the same. And a few weeks ago I switched my desktop system over to SSDs. The problem no longer shows up there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-desktop in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1806224 Title: Desktop icons can be incorrected placed on the Desktop at login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1806224/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1816047] Re: Can't install or uninstall any application
Hi Mark, It seems that you have problem installing and uninstalling due to 3rd party. Do one thing, run the following commands: 1. ps afx|grep dpkg [To check if this process is running]. 2. If there is any process, then kill with sudo killall dpkg 3. Remove the file using sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend After this : 1. Go to system settings. 2. Go to Software& Updates. 3. Click on Other Software. 4. Remove all 3rd party repositories. 5. Run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -f && sudo apt-get update Then check if you are able to install or uninstall anything. ** Changed in: qt4-x11 (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816047 Title: Can't install or uninstall any application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt4-x11/+bug/1816047/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
