[Bug 1872492] Re: Setting in /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56-kubuntu-noto.conf causes Arimo font to be rendered weirdly in Firefox

2020-04-13 Thread Jan Rathmann
** Attachment added: "Arimo in Firefox with passage in 56-kubuntu-noto.conf
commented out, correct rendering"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-settings/+bug/1872492/+attachment/5353350/+files/Screenshot_20200413_171725.png

** Description changed:

  Hello,

I discovered that the font Arimo from the package fonts-croscore is
rendered in weird way in Firefox.

  Steps to reproduce:

  - On Kubuntu Focal install package fonts-croscore
  - Open a website that has text where Arimo gets chosen as font (Arimo seems
to be considered as the default font for sans-serif text by Firefox when it is
installed)
  - The text looks a bit weird an ugly (at least to me)
  - Compare the text in Firefox with the same text in LibreOffice Writer
(choose Arimo as font)

In other applications as Firefox (e.g. LibreOffice, KDE Font Viewer,
Chromium) Arimo looks exactly the same as the font Liberation Sans.

I managed to track this down - since the font is rendered correctly in
- Ubuntu with Gnome desktop, I looked for Kubuntu specific font settings
- and found out that the following passage in /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56
- -kubuntu-noto.conf is responsible for the bad rendering:
+ Firefox on Ubuntu with Gnome desktop, I looked for Kubuntu specific font
+ settings and found out that the following passage in
+ /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56-kubuntu-noto.conf is responsible for the bad
+ rendering:

-
- Arimo
- true
- hintfull
- false
-
+
+ Arimo
+ true
+ hintfull
+ false
+

If I comment this out, then Firefox renders text in Arimo correctly like
  all other applications.

I have attached two screenshots that compare the rendering in Firefox
with default settings and with the respective passage in
  /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56-kubuntu-noto.conf commented out.

  Kind regards,
  Jan

[Bug 1849084] Re: Freeze on system-resume caused by kwin and amdgpu driver

2020-04-13 Thread khitschler
I can confirm that with switched off compositor (KDE, Shift-ALT-F12)
resume is working. But I think the compositor act as trigger only and is
not the reason for the bug.

I've attached the relevant journalctl output of a current unsuccessful
resume. I started the sleep at 13th april about 20:28:06 and tried to
resume about 20:28:20. Some minutes later I logged in via ssh and
initialized a reboot.

[Bug 1863824] Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga not deactivating keyboard & trackpad when going on tablet mode

2020-04-13 Thread Jonas Gamao
Further observation: keyboard and trackpad doesn't deactivate in tablet
mode after at boot. It only does after going to sleep first, but it
doesn't activate if it's in tablet mode after a few seconds.

[Bug 1872551] [NEW] kubuntu-driver-manager: nvidia driver version switch fails

2020-04-13 Thread Horst Schirmeier
Public bug reported:

Switching the Nvidia driver version with kubuntu-driver-manager doesn't
work anymore: Selecting a different driver version (nvidia-driver-440
instead of the currently selected / installed -390) and clicking "Apply
Changes" has no effect and produces this error message in the terminal:

  Traceback (most recent call last):
  File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/qt/SoftwarePropertiesQt.py",
line 895, in on_driver_changes_apply
for dep in get_dependencies(self.apt_cache, pkg.shortname, 'nvidia'):
NameError: name 'get_dependencies' is not defined

Steps to reproduce:
- sudo kubuntu-driver-manager
- Under "Additional Drivers", select a different Nvidia driver version
(in my case: 440 instead of 390)
- Click "Apply Changes"
- (observe error message in the terminal)

Expected result:
- No error message
- Nvidia driver version 440 gets installed

Actual result:
- Error message
- No change in the installed Nvidia driver version

[Bug 1872551] Re: kubuntu-driver-manager: nvidia driver version switch fails

2020-04-13 Thread Rik Mills
kubuntu-driver-manager now just launches software-properties-qt, so
changing package to software-properties where the code for that is.

** Package changed: kubuntu-driver-manager (Ubuntu) => software-
properties (Ubuntu)
