[Bug 422174] Re: cannot connect to hidden ssid
Reading around the problem, I found that some wifi drivers don't seem to run the KeyRing Authorization routine properly if a hidden SSID is used. This leads to the authorization not getting saved. This FIXED it for me: At the router, temporarily enable SSID broadcast. Make a connection and Save. Test WiFi with Disconnect and Connect. Go back to the router, re-disable broadcast and hide your router. Re-test, your connection should still work. In theory ... [Bug 636479] [NEW] keyboard shortcut in System Settings does not work in klipper
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace Ctrl-Alt-V has always been KDE's default keyboard shortcut to bring up the list of clipboad entries maintained in klipper. It has worked unfailingly in every version of KDE that I have used since roughly KDE 1.x in roughly 1999. A recent problem with Kubuntu Lucid 10.04 has been that I often have to enter Ctrl-Alt-V *_twice_* before the applet comes up. I have not changed the keybinding in Kubuntu Maverick 10.10. The default keybinding of Ctrl-Alt-V is listed as active in | System Settings | Shortcuts and Gestures | Global Keyboard Shortcuts | Klipper . The applet does not come up when I enter the keyboard shortcut. If I mouse-click on the icon in the "system tray," it does come up. However, I prefer to use a mouse as little as possible and always prefer keyboard shortcuts. If I attempt the Ctrl-Alt-V keyboard shortcut while KDE's focus is on a konsole (terminal) session, the string "^[" (an escape character ???) appears on the command line for each press of the shortcut. Background: as a matter of laziness, I use one /home partition and one ~/.kde profile for all versions of kubuntu on my various machines. I sometimes wonder if the one ~/.kde profile is "a bad thing." The Ctrl- Alt-V shortcut works in every other Kubuntu Instance on several machines. With the one reservation listed above on this, my most powerful (and therefore most heavily-used) machine, I have never experienced problems. [Bug 501827] [NEW] Enabling keyboard layout switching disables Left arrow, Alt-F1 keys
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace Enabling keyboard layout switching disables the "regular" left arrow key and the Alt-F1 shortcut (which calls the Kickoff application launcher). Disabling keyboard layout switching fails to restore the expected functions to these two keys. By "regular left arrow", I refer to the "navigation" keypad between the Enter key and the numberpad. The only way that I have figured out to restore the function of these two keys is to backup .kde and .kderc and reconfigure both from scratch. I have observed this problem with KDE 4.2 (jaunty), KDE 4.3 (karmic) and KDE 4.4beta (karmic with ppa, lucid). My current keyboard is a wonderful 20+ year old Northgate OmniKey, which has its own entry in the list of keyboard models under System Settings | Personal | Regional & Language | Keyboard Layout. I have, however, tested with numerous other keyboards on this machine, including several modern generic 104-key keyboards. All have shown this same problem which leads me to believe that this problem is with software on this machine rather than with any specific hardware; on the other hand, however, my other Ubuntu box, also with a Northgate keyboard does not show this problem. I cannot test on that second box immediately because of a recent catastrophic drive failure; the system awaits rebuilding.
