[Bug 1826917] Re: login loop screen in ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04

2019-04-29 Thread Colin Watson
This isn't a bug against Launchpad itself (that is, the launchpad.net
website).

I'm marking this as public since there's no confidential information in
the screenshot, since you already opened the public question
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/680541 about the same
thing, and since unnecessarily marking a bug as private greatly
decreases the chance of anyone seeing it and helping you.

>From the screenshot, it looks like it might be a problem with kwallet-
pam, so reassigning there.

[Bug 1325801] Re: failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:

2019-03-29 Thread Colin Watson
** Summary changed:

- Buy Soma Online Conveniently and Safely
+ failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
It is common to use usb-creator to write new USB devices with a version of
Ubuntu which will then be used to upgrade or proceed with a new installation.
In some cases, when using a specific match of versions of Ubuntu with an
incompatible syslinux, the resulting USB device will show errors and not
display the splash menu to use to select between Live and Install mode, or
enabling extra options.
This patch fixes this incompatibility by always using the syslinux version
provided on the ISO image being used to write the USB device; which would
always be compatible with the system to install if it's available.
-
-
- https://usapillspharma.com/

  [Test Case]
1- Use usb-creator to write a new USB device with a version of Ubuntu with a
different syslinux:
     Precise: use 13.10 or later.
     Trusty: use 13.04 or earlier.
     Utopic: use 13.04 or earlier.
2- Boot on the USB, verify that the splash screen is shown and that you can
get into a live session.

  [Regression Potential]
This may yield cases in which the written USB device may be unbootable, due
to having written syslinux data to the boot sector incompatible with the
version of Ubuntu to be installed. USB devices may also be bootable but not
show the splash screen and menu.

[Bug 1647204] Re: 1.8.0-2 FTBFS in zesty 17.04

2016-12-30 Thread Colin Watson
Sounds like the problem is that this build leaves processes hanging
around from its tests. Unfortunately this currently causes builds to
hang, basically because launchpad-buildd uses sbuild's sudo mode rather
than its schroot mode. So the hang is a known bug in launchpad-buildd,
but it should still be possible to fix this: make sure that the test
suite cleans up all its processes on exit, which is something that
should be actionable with a bit of care.

[Bug 1309458] Re: [kubuntu] ubiquity installer crashes when clicking release notes link

2014-04-23 Thread Colin Watson
Hello Name, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubiquity into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/2.18.8 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1080701] Re: After 'Preparing to install Ubuntu' screen, raring installation hangs

2013-04-22 Thread Colin Watson
Those functions themselves are well-reviewed, but they are a bit fragile
against external programs breaking their protocol. My guess is that
closing fds 6 and 7 for grub-mount the same way we do for mount (and
also fd 3, i.e. debconf) will fix this: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5594654/

[Bug 894141] Re: bug caused by gzip './usr/share/doc/libqt4-network/copyright' is different from the same file on the system

This isn't caused by the known gzip bug - the two files listed here
aren't compressed (except, irrelevantly, by means of the entire data.tar
member in the .deb being compressed). Last I heard, this was a
pkgbinarymangler bug.

OK, removed. For now, you're better off editing /etc/default/grub
directly, and running 'sudo update-grub' afterwards; it's quite a simple

[Bug 415888] Re: Installation fails on Crucial/Micron M225 256gb SSD

2009-08-23 Thread Colin Watson
Please do a test installation using the desktop (live) CD up to the
point where it falls over, and then *before rebooting* attach these two
files to this bug report:

  /var/log/syslog
  /var/log/partman

That should help us see what's going on in a bit more detail.

No, the only reason I mentioned that is that that's the only way that
the installer could really become involved. I think the installed
system, probably chiefly the desktop environment given how things like
this are done these days, should get removable media right regardless of
what's plugged in at installation time. By and large it already does, so
I'm hoping that this is a small tweak.

[Bug 48585] Re: Dapper Drake Installer crashed

2006-06-07 Thread Colin Watson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 43125 ***

BobBlum, please file a new bug and use the "Add Attachment" link on the
web page after filing the bug to attach /var/log/installer/syslog,
/var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman. It is not always easy to tell
Ubiquity bugs apart just from the backtrace if you aren't used to the
code, but I can guarantee you that that code has changed quite
significantly and in particular the code in the traceback shown in this
bug no longer reads as above and therefore you cannot possibly be
getting the same traceback with Dapper final.

[Bug 35140] Re: Hard Crash During pcmcia-cs Installation

2006-06-05 Thread Colin Watson
There's a fix for this in dapper-updates now:

pcmcia-cs (3.2.8-5.2ubuntu6) dapper-updates; urgency=critical

  * Don't start pcmcia-cs after upgrading from breezy, as the start script
can hang breezy machines on occasion.

 -- Scott James Remnant <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Wed, 31 May 2006 16:33:19
+0100

We recommend that upgraders include dapper-updates in
/etc/apt/sources.list while upgrading.

With regard to making pcmcia-cs no longer an indirect dependency of
ubuntu-desktop, we'd like to, but unfortunately it's a little
complicated (and in any case it wouldn't help with this bug because
pcmcia-cs was an indirect dependency of ubuntu-desktop in Breezy too).

[Bug 45662] Re: Trying to install Kubuntu 6.06 beta.

2006-05-22 Thread Colin Watson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 41865 ***

John: I'm afraid you simply have the misfortune to be subscribed (via a
duplicate bug) to a bug that's been getting a very large number of
duplicates. See bug 41865 and search for your name to see what I mean.
It will stop eventually as people stop using the Dapper Beta.

2006-05-21 Thread Colin Watson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 41865 ***

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 41865, which is fixed in
current daily builds (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-
live/current/). There are other bugs filed about the lack of RAID
support, which isn't something we're going to fix in the live CD
installer for 6.06; you'll need to use the traditional text-mode
installer for that.

2006-05-18 Thread Colin Watson
I believe this is fixed now:

revno: 1081
committer: Colin Watson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
timestamp: Tue 2006-05-16 11:16:51 +
message:
point bootloader configuration at /casper/filesystem.* rather than /install/
for live CDs, to allow installer and live CD bootstrap to coexist on DVDs

revno: 1083
committer: Colin Watson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
branch nick: debian-cd
timestamp: Wed 2006-05-17 18:33:59 +0100

  fix live CD boot on some architectures by making filenames more 8.3-friendly;
try to make /casper/* filenames match up with /install/*

Please test if you can, and let me know if there are still problems.

[Bug 44884] Re: Kmail Create a Filter: Apply does not gray out after you click on it

Could you please stop filing all your bugs on ubiquity? Ubiquity is
specifically our live CD installer component. Use
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+filebug for other bugs, which will
prompt you for a package name; leave it blank if you don't know.
