[Bug 606365]

2018-12-29 Thread Dennis Schridde
Does the import work when using nmcli (`nmcli connection import type
openvpn file $FILENAME`)?

If nmcli works, I would think this is mostly caused by Plasma NM not
using the NetworkManager OpenVPN code to import configuration files (bug
#396530), but implements an own buggy version.

[Bug 546724]

2020-10-07 Thread Dennis Schridde

> (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #8)
> > Is this still a problem in recent versions of Plasma 5, like 5.19 or later?

I just tried to check this, but powertop 2.13 no longer provides this
kind of information.

I also found a machine that still has a spinning hard drive. I can hear
that the drive goes into standby and is woken up again immediately
thereafter. Without a tool to analyse which program is responsible, I
do not think we stand a chance to improve this.

2012-06-09 Thread Dennis Schridde
P.S: One way to do this would be similar to what is usually done on
RedHat to bind additional repositories: Create a package that will
create the sources.list file. DrKonqi could then suggest to install that
package, which would be much simpler and could be more easily automated
that the shell command on the wiki page linked previously.

[Bug 546724] [NEW] KDE processes writing to icon-cache files "prevents the disk from going to powersave mode."

2010-03-25 Thread Dennis Schridde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Following are several lines of output from powertop, while doing
effectively nothing (despite staring at the output of powertop) with my
computer:

The program 'flush-8:0' is writing to file 'kde-icon-cache.index' on /dev/sda1.
This prevents the disk from going to powersave mode.

The program 'plasma-desktop' is writing to file 'kde-icon-cache.lock.lN2736' on
/dev/sda1.
This prevents the disk from going to powersave mode.

The program 'plasma-desktop' is writing to file 'kde-icon-cache.lock.QP2736' on
/dev/sda1.
This prevents the disk from going to powersave mode.

Running powertop for a longer time will result in lots of such messages.
To me it seems not immediately necessary to frequently write to such
cache files, and create lock files, if the icon theme does (almost)
never change.

2010-03-27 Thread Dennis Schridde
1) sudo aptitude install mysql-server-5.1
2) Add the following to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld and
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi
  @{HOME}/.local/share/akonadi/ rw,
  @{HOME}/.local/share/akonadi/** rwk,
3) sudo service apparmor restart
4) akonadictl stop
5) rm -r .local/share/akonadi/ .config/akonadi/ .kde/share/config/akonadi_*
6) mysql_install_db --datadir=$HOME/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/
7) akonadictl start

The error following messages are now *gone* from mysql.err:
100327 12:30:43 [Warning] Can't open and lock time zone table: Table
'mysql.time_zone_leap_second' doesn't exist trying to live without them
100327 12:30:43 [ERROR] Can't open and lock privilege tables: Table

But there seems to be another issue, maybe related to the sloppy db creation
process, when trying to synchronise the akonadi_imap_resource:

[Bug 553546] [NEW] search-and-execute activity cannot be unlocked

2010-04-01 Thread Dennis Schridde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

The search-and-execute activity cannot be unlocked ("unlock page") if
widgets are locked.

The locking mechanism seems to have two levels:
1) widgets -- kidney menu of the desktop-bar (bar with window list, systray,
etc)
2) page -- kidney menu of the search-and-execute activity

If (1) is locked, the "unlock page" button in (2) is displayed in the
kidney menu, but clicking it has no effect.
