[Bug 1643715] Re: Muon package not installed by default
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1530523 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530523 Well, I don't think this is a dupe, as it may actually be quite helpful to have a "real" package-manager. If there wasn't a big BUT: It's not yet clear if Muon will be ported to Qt-5, and I'm not sure if it's good to use it in combination with Plasma-Discover. Since one relies in APT and the other in Appstream. Kubuntu has been undergoing quite numberous changes since I'm using it. So since I originally came from Gnome-Ubuntu with 7.04 - I were/am sticking with Synaptics as a package-manager (certainly as it was stable then and me not ready for commandline). And I can only second the idea of making it more clear that, there is a different option, than a shopping-mall for APPS. I would not think think it's a good idea, to have it installed as default, but I do think this can be pretty well approached from the side of documentation [1]. As it's a similar situation in Ubuntu with the Software-Center, and Synaptics was removed from the 'Default- Installation' we could really peek into their documentation and adopt that. [1] https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/addremove-install- synaptic.html Hence I'm still interested in other opinions, especially from the a packagers view-point. I am close to to answering this from my experience since it's been following the KDE-style (Vanilla). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to muon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643715 Title: Muon package not installed by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/muon/+bug/1643715/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1640290] Re: Update Qt to 5.7.1
Just for the completeness of the changes I've put: Having added the Kubuntu-folks, since having an up-to-date Qt-version is quite essential for a successful build of an KDE-environment within the Ubuntu-flavors eco-system. Not having this, puts their efforts on a hold to have their stuff uploaded (of course they can somehow or another fiddle around it within their staging ppa's – producing breakage wt the rest of the archive (personal xperience)). [Bug 1643374] Re: plasma-desktop is outdated
The desktop has to my knowledge in at least the last five years never been officially updated – just via the Kubuntu-Developers/Packagers PPA. Ubuntu has shortend it's Release-cycle a while ago to a period of 9 month to catch up, even with overlapping LTS-Releases. As usual in other Linux-Distributions – A release once it's published only get's security-~ and bug-fixes. To tackle such there are now LTS-Releases of Qt and KDE. Especially in terms of KDE (Plasma.KF,Apps) OpenSuse has been urging the KDE-Devs to provide such. These would be able to arrive via the official backports. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-desktop in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643374 Title: plasma-desktop is outdated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1643374/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1635756] Re: [needs-packaging] KDE Partition Manager 2.2.1 needs packaging
@ Andrius Štikonas Debian-watch-file needs to be updated to reflect changes in "Project- Homepage" (1) and destination of sourcecode (2). Those inferior date are then also reflected in Ubuntu... suggestion: (1) https://community.kde.org/Partitionmanager (needs data-input -> simple sample: kdeconnect) (2) https://cgit.kde.org/partitionmanager.git Especially the second item gives dev's an early information of a new release. Changelog in sourcecode stops with Version prior to this release? Debian is in transition-freeze for "Stretch" since Nov.5ŧh [2]. Kubuntu 17.04 has had feature-freeze defintion already as per today. Please note as well that Ubuntu is slow in keeping up with Qt-Releases. [3] Last not least: unsubscribing Scott Kitterman (since Debian trusts the watchfile). [Bug 1532381] Re: SDDM 0.13: kcmsddm shows old preview-picture of Maldives (reported upstream)
hi! Simon, at the time when I was reporting this minor issue, the Development of the KCM was considered to be done within the SDDM-Project. Now things have changed a little bit. This bug was fixed in Plasma 5.8.2 (knowing that from the Antergos-OS side) It's listed in KDE's Release-Notes: https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasma-5.8.1-5.8.2-changelog.php You can look there for commit# / +KDE-bugreport 370490 talking about copyright-issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to sddm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1532381 Title: SDDM 0.13: kcmsddm shows old preview-picture of Maldives (reported upstream) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1532381/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1635758] Re: package kdeconnect-plasma (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/etc/xdg/autostart/kdeconnectd.desktop', which is also in package kdeconnect 1.0.1-0ubuntu1
@ David: Thanks for reporting this! Following the rules from the bugs- squad I had to mark this bug-report as invalid as the incident didn't come from an archives package. ;-) I've had my test, to complete the positive impression you all gave me on this ppa-package. sudo apt get install ppa-purge ppa-purge ppa:clivejo/kdeconnect-kde This completed sucessfully. Bringing back, both archives versions for KdeSC-4/plasma-5 ... (see valid bug #1579436) Seems to be due to the KDE-meta and Kubuntu settings (see valid bug #1571688) Other impressions I had on the installation of the now fixed ppa- package, the installation asks to replace the RC-file. That question is adundant as it's necessary for the new features. In an ideal world this should be muted/overridden, as it may confuse the average user – plus raises a 50/50 chance of fault. Of course the impact is then that my previously changed settings (like clients/unticked options are gone, of course). I can accept this in exchange for the new features - y'all know that I keep on dreaming of an ideal world, as stated in my LP-Profile. But the professor of a friend keeps saying: "You'll better be prepared to harvest bug-reports on that, earlier or latter." Clive you can certainly approach A.Fiestas on this? The one thing that was discovered regards the messenger (Allo?/Standard) should probably be reported upstream to allow the developers to judge the situation on this from their point. Clive that are two arguments why to ask for getting this package into the archive: 1. It's the declared "stable" version / 2. better security in transmission. / 3. beeing inline wt Debian to have the ease to use the official 'Backports' That's easy for the current Dev.-release (suggestion: use the milestone- option, that's good for the monitoring – could even use "blueprint" - The MOTU's favour that.) For versions that are in the SRU-state the process is well documented in: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates Ever thought of the option to have a backport? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports One last thing: You can protect your PPA from external abuse-suggestions by adding an approporiate comment in the field 'Description' - Best example for me is the xorg-edgers-ppa. This was done with the staging ppa's, after the same press-guy thought it would be nice to suggest adding them via his blog. btw: The Ubuntu-Developers got an appraisal in the Debian's changelog on behalf of verion 0.9g-1 -> ...
