2016-12-30 Thread LocutusOfBorg
@Jeremy, can you please point me the calligra patch?
Honestly I think this patch is not easily upstreamable, I would prefer to drop
it completely, as you/I said on bug 1596391, we can "include(GNUInstallDirs)"
and get the multiarch bits for free.

If you provide me a list of packages, I'll make sure they are at least
patched in Debian and sync'd in Ubuntu

[Bug 1641924] Re: Upgrading to Qt Creator 4.1.0 leads to crash on project creation

2016-11-15 Thread LocutusOfBorg
I can't reproduce, I did test it and even if I can't create a qt quick2

menu, mouse clicks and so on.

[Bug 1624832] Re: [SRU] AUTORCC-generated resources always out-of-date with Ninja

2016-09-26 Thread LocutusOfBorg
patch fixing the issue

build ongoing at ppa:costamagnagianfranco/costamagnagianfranco-ppa
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/costamagnagianfranco-ppa

** Summary changed:

- AUTORCC-generated resources always out-of-date with Ninja
+ [SRU] AUTORCC-generated resources always out-of-date with Ninja

** Description changed:

- When using AUTORCC with the Ninja generator, the generated qrc_*.cpp.o
- target is always considered out-of-date, leading to an unnecessary (and
- possibly lengthy) re-link on each build. This defeats one of the main
- strengths of Ninja, which is its fast no-op build time.
+ [Impact]
+
+ * people using Ninja to speed up the build, with AUTORCC-generated
+ resources
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * stuff is not regenerated due to a bug in cmake
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+  * None
+
+ [Other Info]

  The upstream bug report is here:

  https://cmake.org/Bug/view.php?id=16049

  and was later moved to here:

  https://gitlab.kitware.com/cmake/cmake/issues/16049

  It was fixed by Brad King in

https://gitlab.kitware.com/ben.boeckel/cmake/commit/f6c5958047ee8a9084bf230a6c1acb4801cb2b93

  and the fix is in CMake 3.5.2.

  I would like to ask what is best: Should I should prepare a debdiff
  adding this patch to the 3.5.1 package in Xenial and request an SRU? Or
  is it reasonable to update the Xenial package to 3.5.2 (which is in
  Yakkety) outright?

[Bug 1623500] Re: Cmake 3.5 and "unknown cmake command 'feature_summary'"

2016-09-14 Thread LocutusOfBorg
This is a module, and you need to import it before using

e.g.
include(FeatureSummary)
feature_summary(WHAT ALL)

provides the summary of the required/not required features

Seems that the hdf5 regression (there was a partial one) has been fixed in 3.6.2

If I get the exception I'm willing to package it even ahead from Debian.

[Bug 1616372] Re: [FFe] cmake 3.6.1

2016-09-05 Thread LocutusOfBorg
the hdf5 fixes have been merged in yakkety, e.g. libminc, insighttookit4 and
something more I don't recall.
Basically hdf5 has been a long stading problem, because the cmake detection was
buggy, and developers crafted their own bad solution to fix the issue.
Now, cmake is fixed, so the fix needs to be propagated to packages, to use the
new detection module.
I think it is worth the effort

[Bug 1616372] Re: [FFe] cmake 3.6.1

2016-08-30 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi Stefano, seems that Debian has no transition, probably because it is not
needed at all.
They do archive rebuilds, and I didn't see regressions so far opened (the
package went in testing).

I presume it seems safe to upload, but it is only my opinion (the only
change I have to look is the hdf detection mode, but I prefer it to
break and fix the reverse dependencies, instead of keeping the old code
around)

[Bug 1616372] [NEW] [FFe] cmake 3.6.1

2016-08-24 Thread LocutusOfBorg
eak clients that added
  escaping manually to work around the bug.

* The "FindProtobuf" module input and output variables were all
  renamed from "PROTOBUF_" to "Protobuf_" for consistency with other
  find modules. Input variables of the old case will be honored if
  provided, and output variables of the old case are always provided.

* The "CPackRPM" module now supports upper cased component names in
  per component CPackRPM specific variables. E.g. component named
  "foo" now expects component specific variable to be
  "CPACK_RPM_FOO_PACKAGE_NAME" while before it expected
  "CPACK_RPM_foo_PACKAGE_NAME". Upper cased component name part in
  variables is compatible with convention used for other CPack
  variables. For back compatibility old format of variables is still
  valid and preferred if both versions of variable are set, but the
  preferred future use is upper cased component names in variables.
  New variables that will be added to CPackRPM in later versions will
  only support upper cased component variable format.

[Bug 1564741] Re: [SRU] cmake crashed with SIGSEGV in cmTarget::GetProperty()

2016-07-03 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Well, I'm not sure updating cmake to a new minor release in a stable
Ubuntu LTS is worth the effort...

I admit I was tempted, but too many packages relies on it, and I think
before upgrading we should at least do an archive rebuild just to check
everything still builds.

For sure cherry-picking a patch is the safest way to fix the bug, but I
admit I would have upgraded cmake with not many issues (the debdiff is
not scary)

[Bug 1596391] Re: pdal ftbfs because cmake on Ubuntu points to multi-arch directories

2016-06-27 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi Jeremy, I'm afraid this is the intended behaviour

cmake (look at the delta) does this:
https://patches.ubuntu.com/c/cmake/cmake_3.5.2-1ubuntu1.patch

+  if(NOT DEFINED CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR)
+SET(CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR "lib/${CMAKE_LIBRARY_ARCHITECTURE}")
+  endif()

and pdal does:

  if (DEFINED CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR)
  set(PDAL_LIB_INSTALL_DIR "${CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR}")
  else()
  set(PDAL_LIB_INSTALL_DIR "lib")
  endif()

so, this seems to be the reason for this.
what about fixing pdal to be multiarch?

[Bug 1564571] Re: cmake 3.5.1 no longer passes -soname to linker reliably

2016-04-01 Thread LocutusOfBorg
I don't understand, locally make test works, when the library is outside
the build directory it doesn't.

I suspect the culprit is your path.h.in file, that hardcodes local
paths.

maybe strace might help here to find the issue.

I did download the unity8 branch, dpkg-buildpackaged it, added all the
dependencies, changed MODULE to SHARED.

I can't reproduce in a clean xenial environment (pbuilder)

actually as you said before:
 cmake ..
make
make testFloatingFlickable # works
cmake . -DUNITY_PLUGINPATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/unity8/qml
make testFloatingFlickable # broken

the second make is just changing an LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable, no rebuilds are
actually performed.
You are trying to LD_PRELOAD a system qml library instead of the just built one.
Not sure what is wrong, maybe an ABI incompatibility or something else, but it
seems to have nothing to do with cmake to me.

test good.
VERBOSE=1 make testFloatingFlickable
cd /unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/plugins/Ubuntu/Gestures && env
QML2_IMPORT_PATH=/unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/utils/modules:/unity8-cmakebug/build/plugins

-o
/unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/plugins/Ubuntu/Gestures/testFloatingFlickable.xml,xunitxml
 -o -,txt

bad test.
cd /unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/plugins/Ubuntu/Gestures && env
QML2_IMPORT_PATH=/unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/utils/modules:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/unity8/qml
 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/unity8/qml/Ubuntu/Gestures

-o
/unity8-cmakebug/build/tests/plugins/Ubuntu/Gestures/testFloatingFlickable.xml,xunitxml
 -o -,txt

I think the testsuite should run against the local just built library, not
against the system one, that might have a different API/ABI.

In any case, this seems a lot different from the first issue you
reported, and the soname stuff seems to be correctly set now.

objdump -p ./build/plugins/Ubuntu/Gestures/libUbuntuGesturesQml.so |grep SONAME
  SONAME   libUbuntuGesturesQml.so

[Bug 1564571] Re: cmake 3.5.1 no longer passes -soname to linker reliably

2016-03-31 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi, I can't download the sources because of bad connection, however:

SHARED instead of MODULE is already part of the fix.

if it doesn't work you can do something like:
set_target_properties(UbuntuGesturesQml PROPERTIES
  ENABLE_EXPORTS On
  OUTPUT_NAME UbuntuGesturesQml
  VERSION 0.0.0
  SOVERSION 0
  )

with the appropriate values and see if it fixes the issue.

thanks

[Bug 1510625] Re: cross build patches need review/update for 3.3.2

2016-03-30 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi doko, I started a blender no-change rebuild on top of cmake 3.5.1 and it
seems to be building correctly.
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/locutusofborg-ppa/+sourcepub/6242695/+listing-archive-extra

for sure the configure phase has ended, and now it is building.

[Bug 1369193] Re: cannot properly find mt libraries

2016-03-30 Thread LocutusOfBorg
mmm I see in that file
# Boost_USE_MULTITHREADED - Set to OFF to use the non-multithreaded
# libraries ('mt' tag). Default is ON.

set (_boost_MULTITHREADED "-mt")
if( NOT Boost_USE_MULTITHREADED )
  set (_boost_MULTITHREADED "")
endif()

so probably you just have to set that variable.

[Bug 1563548] Re: CMake 3.5's pkg-config support broken

2016-03-29 Thread LocutusOfBorg
the package is building on my ppa
https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu
/costamagnagianfranco-ppa

BTW I honestly think this was a typo in the set variable.
Probably a change like
+-  _pkgconfig_set("${_pkg_check_modules_pkg}_${variable}"
"${${_pkg_check_modules_pkg}_${variable}}")
++ _pkgconfig_set("${_pkg_check_prefix}_${variable}"
"${${_pkg_check_prefix}_${variable}}")

is already enough.
Having them both results in something like:

GLIB2_INCLUDEDIR:INTERNAL=/usr/include
GLIB2_LIBDIR:INTERNAL=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
GLIB2_PREFIX:INTERNAL=/usr

and

glib-2.0_INCLUDEDIR:INTERNAL=/usr/include
glib-2.0_LIBDIR:INTERNAL=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
glib-2.0_PREFIX:INTERNAL=/usr

I think we could have just the former version.

[Bug 1534263] Re: [FFe] [merge request] Import cmake-3.5 series to Ubuntu Xenial 16.04LTS

2016-03-29 Thread LocutusOfBorg
when I did the work some releases ago, the patch was needed, but this
makes some packages build successfully in Ubuntu but not in Debian

(going just with my memory) something like this one
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=807763 had this issue.

The above package should be in xenial, so if it builds with the new
cmake it might mean the patch is useless now.

(I might be wrong, never looked at 3.5 code, and I'm not sure the delta
causing the issue is the above mentioned patch, however in the bug
report I did some checks and found the reason of the breakage. You might
save some time by reading it)
