A method to repair machines was posted earlier, but may have been missed
in the noise.

Paul Sladen in #173 suggests that blacklisting the kernel module, and
then doing TWO COMPLETE REBOOTS will allow the BIOS to recover.

Looking at the code, this seems plausible.
