If Ubuntu then it is a packaging bug:

[Bug 1388538] Re: Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix

Workarounds:

1) Build the Ark without the Debian 'use_libarchive_for_zip_files'
patch.

or

2) Download an older package - You could download&install packages from

[Bug 1388532] Re: Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix

2014-11-03 Thread Sam Rog
The 'use_libarchive_for_zip_files' is coming from the Debian:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=748198

The Utopic Ark has been merged with the Debian:
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/a/ark/ark_4.14.1-0ubuntu1/changelog
:

ark (4:4.13.2-0ubuntu1) utopic; urgency=medium

  * Merge with debian, no remaining changes

The Trusty Ark has not merged with the Debian:
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/a/ark/ark_4.13.3-0ubuntu0.1/changelog

So it doesn't have the patch 'use_libarchive_for_zip_files

[Bug 1388538] [NEW] Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix

2014-11-02 Thread Sam Rog
Public bug reported:

Same as with the
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ark/+bug/1388532

Ubuntu 14.10

Package ark (4:4.14.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.10~ppa1)

Ark: 2.19

Steps to reproduce:

1) Compress a file to the .zip format with the Ark. Either from the Ark or from
the file manager context menu.
2) Unpack the .zip file with the 'unzip'command

There is an error message (Test.zip)

Archive: Test.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of Test.zip or
Test.zip.zip, and cannot find Test.zip.ZIP, period.

The file command is telling:

file Test.zip
Test.zip: gzip compressed data, last modified: Sun Nov 2 11:54:49 2014, from
Unix

The Ubuntu package ark (4:4.14.1-0ubuntu1) has a patch
'use_libarchive_for_zip_files'. When compiling the Ark without the patch
the Ark is compressing to the .zip format.

Then the file is identified as:

file Test.zip
Test.zip: Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract

and the unzip can unpack it:

unzip Test.zip
Archive: Test.zip
  inflating: Test.txt

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a change of the KDE
workspace - KDE revision ce14f98d: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde

are meaning.

[Bug 1074371] Re: In Kubuntu 12.10, systemsettings does not show "system languages"

2012-11-04 Thread Sam Rog
The problem

The problem seems to be that in some cases the language selector only
has a language (english) to select.

Image from the AskUbuntu /2/ : http://i.stack.imgur.com/IUAbr.jpg

What mini.iso ?

>From the "Installation":
>https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QuantalQuetzal/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu ->

At here the MinimalCD was working without problems: Picking the installation
language as english and later the locale lingo from the KDE System Settings >
Locale > Languages.

[Bug 1074371] Re: In Kubuntu 12.10, systemsettings does not show "system languages"

2012-11-03 Thread Sam Rog
There are same kind of bug reports:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1066771
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1013626

bu not marking this as duplicate as the Kubuntu 12.10 language selector
is broken in some cases. At here, the language selector is working as
expected. The installation media was the mini.iso / MinimalCD:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QuantalQuetzal/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu

By the http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?60590-Can-t-install-
other-system-languages a workaround is to install the "kde-
l10n-" from the package manager.

[Bug 667704] Re: Servicemenu installation fails

2011-01-28 Thread Sam Rog
When testing with the servicemenuinstallation script:

servicemenuinstallation /path/to/124416-DropboxServiceMenu-0.15.2.tar.gz

I did notice that the only place where the ruby script can find the
servicemenu installation scrip is the /media/sda6/...

If the servicemenu tar ball is in the:
/home/rog131/.kde/share/apps/servicemenu-download -> fail
/tmp/ -> fail
/media/sda5/ -> fail
/media/sdb3/ -> fail

The permissions of the directories seems to be same (?)

A workaround at here is to make a symlink from the ~/.kde/share/apps/ to
the /media/sda6/

Now the "ls -l /home/rog131/.kde/share/apps/" tells:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 rog131 rog131   36 2011-01-28 13:12 servicemenu-download ->
/media/sda6/tmp/servicemenu-download

After this the Dolphin "Dowmload New Services" is working. Strange

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

Kubuntu 11.04 Alpha 1
KDE 4.5.95
Package: dolphin (4:4.5.95-0ubuntu1)
Alternate install CD, Daily build 23-Jan-2011.

The Dolphin has installation option: Dophin > Configure Dolphin > Services >
Download New Services.

The Install/Download New services is using script
/usr/bin/servicemenuinstallation. The script needs ruby to work.

When starting the Dolphin from the konsole there is an error message:

"/usr/bin/env: ruby: No such file or directory
dolphin(2098)/knewstuff (api): Command failed"

Fix: Install the ruby package.

This is same as the Archlinux bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18140
"dolphin in KDE 4.4 needs ruby in order to install new service menus with GHNS,
otherwise it fails silently (it still fails most of the times anyway, but
that's a different upstram issue). It should have ruby as an (opt?)depends."

Title:
Dolphin servicemenu installation script depends ruby. Ruby is not

[Bug 288502] Re: KDE 4 doesn't respect X11 cursor themes

2009-12-26 Thread Sam Rog
Kubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10)
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)

and

Kubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04) Alpha 1
Qt: 4.6.0
KDE Development Platform: 4.3.85 (KDE 4.3.85 (KDE 4.4 Beta2))

Both have this bug.

A workaround is to rename (disable) the
/usr/share/icons/default/index.theme. Then the KDE Classic is the
default theme. Bug -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/305201

Then it is possible to use the Bluecurve icon theme (at here).
