In my case the problem was a corruption state of svg cache. Not konsole, but a terminal out of the graphical enviroment (crtl+alt+Fn). When I return to Plasma 5 it remains frozen. I have collectehad some traces from kwin after It gets frozen. I am not an ubuntu user. I have an archlinux instalation with plasma 5 too. It have been working fine for a month. But yesterday, my desktop behaviour is exactly like yours.
