Hm. "Documents" showing up as an unusual default also affects Konsole. See:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302903
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=183534

Dunno if the issues are related, but the coincidence is curious.

Commits beyond KDE 4.9.1

2012-09-03 Thread Rohan Garg
Hi!
While packaging KDE 4.9.1 , please make sure that you include commit
hash a651fff0 [1] from kde-workspace. This will fix a major bug where
Kubuntu's custom plasma setup scripts were not being run on the Live
CD and the installed desktop.

Anyone else know about commits that we *should* include but were
pushed after the 4.9.1 tarballs were spun? ( Anything after Saturday
qualifies this criterion I believe ).

Best
Rohan Garg

Re: [Dolphin][Suggest]Remove Preview Panel and add Tooltip Preview.

2012-09-03 Thread Giuseppe Pennisi
I've not suggested it in KDE Brainstorm because it's only one of many
KDE configurations.

Infact this solution appear in some KDE announcements (
http://kde.org/announcements/4.9/plasma.php ) and screenshot by Peter
Penz.

I think it can be set in kubuntu-default-settings.

Giuseppe.

We should see if that's technically possible. In any case I'd suggest
you to join the forum.kde.org, in the brainstorm section [1] and there
we can see where we go.

Cheers!

No I doubt it can. It's also better to fix these things upstream.

[Dolphin][Suggest]Remove Preview Panel and add Tooltip Preview.

2012-09-03 Thread Giuseppe Pennisi
Remove Preview Panel and add Tooltip Preview.

Because:
1. Look is better;
2. "Normal" user not use the advanced features of Preview Panel (i.e.:
tags, etc..).
3. Preview Panel wastes useful space (expecially on small screens).
4. The preview can be replaced by Tooltip preview.

Could you suggest this to the rekonq developers? They'll be in a better place
to make the change.

kubuntu packages & bzr

2012-09-03 Thread Harald Sitter
ahoy ahoy,

the kubuntu crew just noticed that one of our core packages does not
have the most recent upload in its bzr branch. I therefore would like
to remind everyone that packages maintained by the kubuntu team almost
always have a corresponding bzr branch at [1] (core software in
particular is located at [2]) which ought to be used. TIA.
