Re: Blue Shell PPA for Firefox -- package name confusion
well, I'm willing to commit, but I really don't know anything about the hows. On Sat, Nov 3, 2012 at 10:57 AM, Scott Kitterman wrote: > It's not politics. Re: Blue Shell PPA for Firefox -- package name confusion
It's not politics. For security reasons, packages in the archive aren't allowed to autoinstall from PPAs. The KDE Firefox patches were dropped from the Ubuntu archive Firefox due to the amount of work it took to keep them up to date and integrated with new Firefox releases. If someone from the community were willing to commit to do that work, I think it would be worth discussing with the Mozilla team about getting them back in. Re: Blue Shell PPA for Firefox -- package name confusion
Is it possible to include the ppa as part of the firefox-installer that comes on the iso? would it be possible for the firefox-installer to install this firefox-kde and have firefox be a separate package? Could firefox-kde be put on the standard kubuntu servers since it would be a different package than firefox and skip the whole ppa part to begin with? This would be ideal from a user point of view, and would simplify things for the end-user greatly. I don't know if any of this is possible from a canonical point of view or a kubuntu point of view and the politics therein, but now that we are truely a community version couldn't we just do it anyway?
