poor man's or newbie's cloud?
Hi all, I have 2 physical machines, same installation, maybe some minor hardware differences, but basically the same CPU, HDD. I would like to experiment "the cloud" home. I create a KVM VM (usually with virt-install) on the first machine. I would like to - duplicate & synchronize the 1rst VM to a 2nd VM on the other host: how to? - volontarily shutdown the first VM to simulate a down and have the 2nd VM to be used: how to? To my understanding, I would need at least a specific network system (a L2 switch?) and another machine to detect the down state of the first VM. Am I wrong? Thank you for you indications. -- RMA. -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe kvm" in the body of a message to majord...@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html

If I'm not wrong, that's why the recommended and current default in libvirtd is to create storage devices with no caching to remove one layer of duplication. How do you do that? or edit the cache attribute in the libvirt domain XML file if you're using that. KSM memory saving amount
Hi all, Running an Ubuntu Natty where I launched 3 Xubuntu and 1 win 7, I cat see: /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/full_scans: 34 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/pages_shared: 8020 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/pages_sharing: 36098 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/pages_to_scan: 100 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/pages_unshared: 247109 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/pages_volatile: 32716 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run: 1 /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/sleep_millisecs: 200 I would like to evaluate the memory amount: How many byte is a page? -- RMA. -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe kvm" in the body of a message to majord...@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html

cpulimit and kvm process
Manao ahoana, Hello, Bonjour, I would like to launch several KVM guests on a multicore CPU. The number of the KVM process is over the number of physical cores. I would like to limit each KVM process to say... 10% of CPU I first use "cpulimit " Would you know some better way to limit them? it's in order to avoid 4 VM to hog all the 4 hardware cores. I also use all the livbirt tools, if there si any sol Misaotra, Thanks, Merci. -- Architecte Informatique chez Blueline/Gulfsat: Administration Systeme, Recherche & Developpement +261 34 56 000 19 -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe kvm" in the body of a message to majord...@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
