You better should pass '00*.patch'  instead of '00*' to git send-email 
so it doesn't mail out the editor backup file ;)

I tried to store it in git as an empty commit but most of the git 
tooling doesn't work well with that.

I tried to store it in git as an empty commit but most of the git

I keep each posting in a -v1/ etc directory and copy-paste from that.
