If that is the case then it is not related to your lack of experience with the
tool but to a bug in the code. I am not experiencing that although I use OmegaT
everyday on relatively complex ODT/DOCX documents.

By the way, I am not trying to push the use of OmegaT.

I am just saying that XLIFF is good in some use cases, mostly when you have a
back-end process where you can extract TM data and inject them into the XLIFF
(a la PO's fuzzies, but better). When you don't have access to such a process,
then it is better to work directly in the source file.

Especially since in the end you'll get the same TM data.

This is funny. In LibreOffice source kid is not Koshin but special key
id pseudo language (hence the kid abbreviation). Unfortunately it is
also an ISO language code, and somebody treated it so. Currently
LibreOffice is not translated into Koshin.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Re: Commit localized strings for LibO-3.3-rc3 release

2011-01-10 Thread Mikel Pascual
Thanks a lot.

About the translation: it's strange
The string with "RB_CHAR" (Radio Button Char, I assume) refers to word-based
compare, and the string with "RB_WORD" (the precedent one) refers to
char-based compare.
Maybe the original strings are wrong?

The basque translation just translates "word" with "hitza" and "character"
with "karaktere". Am I missing something?

About the wiki edit: done.
I also saw that the arabic contact was "elachechea...@*gamil*.com" and I'll
just post "elachechea...@*gmail*.com", as I guess that's a misspelling.

Problem fixed now.

The problem was that only the English main site had been configured to
use the new theme ("libo"). I have now configured each NL site
individually to use the new theme.

You are all still going to notice one "problem": your page contents
will display with a wide left margin (that would normally be occupied
by a left side menu). To fix this, you must go to each page's settings
and activate the "IsFullWidth" checkbox. Then those page contents will
fill the entire width of the page.

Only leave the "IsFullWidth" setting deactivated when/if you want a
side menu to display (on 2nd- and 3rd-level pages, for instance).

HTH.

But I'd guess the text should also be modified (I have no idea of Basque, it
looks
wrong, if the text for "CHAR" and "WORD" is exactly the same.)

Done - I granted admin privilieges for Basque to your account.

I agree, it is inconsistent. The only page where the indication of localized
sites would be needed and should be displayed at all times in my opinion is
the main English page, maybe with just a line of links to localized sites
with the language codes (as in wiki, maybe nicer :) ).

[libreoffice-l10n] Re:Removal of translations from NL English site at libreoffice.org

For the present situation I don't see any reason why to host two pages (even if
one is a redirect of the other) with the same content:

www.libreoffice.org/[subpage]/[translation] and [nl].libreoffice.org/[subpage]

Removing the translations would allow to get rid of the additional line below
the navigation, leading to a more consistent look and feel.

There are just two points to mention:

1. I don't know if there are teams who don't want to admin their full
localized subsite. They are the only ones who might profit from the current
situation where they only translate a few pages. In my eyes it should not be a
problem to provide them with a "minimal set" of already created pages (e.g.
Main, Download and Features) they only have to fill with content.

2. If SilverStripe is able to read the browser's language, it might be a
mid-term idea to have a multi-language main page (presented in the user's
language) while the links are leading to the nl-pages.

This would mean to have the rest of the international site should move to
en.libreoffice.org (a step to improve the equality of different languages)
while keeping the first impression consistent (with an area dedicated to local
particularities) and strenghtening the brand.

Both points are no hindrance to remove the translated sub-pages IMHO.

Best regards

Bernhard
