Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Definition of Rotate case

2011-04-11 Thread Martin Srebotnjak
Hi, it switches between those cases of letters (like toggle case). It goes
in cycles, so I guess that is why the rotate is used (after the last
option it moves to the first option).

 Hi,

 In officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI.po there is:

 #:
 GenericCommands.xcu#..GenericCommands.UserInterface.Commands..uno_ChangeCaseRotateCase.Label.value.text
msgid Rotate case (Title Case, UPPERCASE, lowercase)
 msgstr

What does this actually do ?
Is there a definition somewhere ?

The surrounding options are understandable due to their capitalization, but
here a comment might come handy.

 Best regards,

 Sveinn í Felli

Yes, I think toggle would be more adapted than rotate, at least, I
understand it better in this case :)

Kind regards

Maybe even something like «Toggle between cases». However, that string would
be rather long «Bytt mellom bokstavstørrelser» in languages like Norwegian,
so maybe a more creative approach is needed.

I think it was toggle and got changed into rotate. Because there is a toggle
case function that changes/inverts case - as a matter of fact, it would be
better to call it iNVERT cASE than tOGGLE cASE. Then Rotate case could
go back to Toggle case.

All supported languages were imported except Serbian, Slovenian and
Romanian, because they indicated that they do not want to use our
Pootle. I would happily add them of course, if they changed their minds.

Except trying to have most of the Open Source and Free Software Romanian
translations in one place, I do not understand why the Romanian team keeps
LibreOffice translation on http://tradu.softwareliber.rom but it became
unpractical now with the migration of all translations on this Pootle server.
There are only few applications translated there and with Transifex, Launchpad
and other collaborative translation solutions I doubt the success of this local
oriented one.

Here I can make Pootle show me the translations in other languages that I know,
which is very practical when you want to ensure that the sens of the translated
phrase is the good one. On Narro there's only the Romanian language available!

Personally I'd like to see LibreOffice Romanian translation migrated here on
Pootle, like everyone else.

Cheers,
Florin

you should negotiate this with your team leader. It would be even less
practical if half of your team worked on LibreOffice in Narro, and the
other half in Pootle. This has to be a team's coordinated decision.

There don't seem to be any drawbacks, so that's the way to go - this
way regular translation will not be blocked/affected by the exporting
blocking all available worker slots or all RAM or all CPU

Unfortunately, real-usage also lets the regular workers grow insanely
(from standard of around 80/90MB to700MB) - thus I had to reduce the
lifetime of the regular worker again as well.

Just what I said, either we do everything here on Pootle (recommended), or we
move all on Narro.
Currently there are some parts on Narro and some parts on Pootle.

But I'm not the coordinator, otherwise the decision would be already taken.

But tOGGLE cASE is there too as an option, you mean this

Hmmm, something smells fishy...

Hi,

As Sophie and Rimas wrote earlier, we can start to localize LibreOffice
3.4 in Pootle or by other means.

Please read this wiki page:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Translation_for_3.4
I don't want to repeat what is already there. As we don't have too much
time, please start with the UI.

Pootle is bootstrapped with translations. For languages that had
LibreOffice 3.3.x - Merged UI/Help, we migrated that. For other
languages we imported what we found in the current LibreOffice source code.

All supported languages were imported except Serbian, Slovenian and
Romanian, because they indicated that they do not want to use our
Pootle. I would happily add them of course, if they changed their minds.

Also, Luxembourgish was added to Pootle but it has not been added to
LibreOffice source code yet. 12.6% is translated at the moment. AFAIK in
OOo the limit was 80%, maybe we can be more liberal. :) Keep up the good
work.

BUGS!
I found gsicheck bugs in many localizations.
See: http://ftp.fsf.hu/LibreOffice/3.4-alpha-l10nbugs/
.err files contain the lines with errors and the en-US conterparts
.log files contain the error message
Please locate and fix these bugs!
Affected locales: bg, bn, bs, cy, da, dgo, el, en-ZA, eo, ga, mk, ne,
nn, om, pt, sa-IN, sd, sv, tg, uz, vi

Also I found many occurences of @openoffice.org mailing lists or
openoffice.org web sites where the en-US source string contained
LibreOffice references. Please look for these, and correct them. Pootle
has checks for changed URLs and changed mail addresses.

Best regards,
Andras
