Hi

I've been wanting to do an en_AU (en_NZ) dictionary for a while now and
this may just be the impetus I needed. I've just had a quick flick
through the file and am amazed at the amount of Americanisms in the dic
file. I will probably take this on as a project but it will take some
time as I have other projects on the go as well. Are there any
conventions I need, not with regards to en_AU but rather with regards to
setting a dic file up, that I need to know about?

Cheers
Michael (a native en_AU speaker, reader, and writer).

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] many fuzzy strings due to xlm tags move in 5.2 help files

2016-03-19 Thread Martin Srebotnjak
It's an old story. Developers of OOo/LO think localizers are enjoying this
kind of manual work. As if it was a mandala or knitting.
So they rework tags every now and then, without caring about our feelings.

But we are not enjoying it and the latest thousands changes of the tag kind
must be made with a script in the translated strings. Not our work.

So we have enough time to do what we do - localize. Amen.

Most fuzzy strings are not because xml tags being placed differently
(where xml tags are different, it was to fix validation errors), but
most fuzzy strings are due to changes in message context.

there are also hundreds of the strings with differently placed tags and
for them it is not enough to just accept fuzzy strings - typically

.

Are these strings planned to be translated automatically as well?

This is not completely true - the issue with the "l10n" and "oldref"
tags changing context affected also 5.1 strings, now it is just
highlighted because of the massive automated changes.

Hey!

How do I translate "x-range" to Spanish? Is there any specifically word to
it? Or I just translate it by "rango de x"?

Thanks!

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Australian dictionary - Fixes - 2016-03-14

2016-03-19 Thread Marco A.G.Pinto
Hello Michael,

I am improving GB and packing the OXT English files.

To edit the AU dictionary you can use my open-source tool (Proofing Tool
GUI):
http://marcoagpinto.cidadevirtual.pt/proofingtoolgui.html

The user guide is outdated (no free time to finish it yet) but you can
read the dictionary part of it.

My advice for you to find missing words in AU is to check my GB wordlist.

The rules for the .AFF can be found in my Dropbox:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30674540/enGB_original_author_explanation.aff

I believe was able to get the explanation above before its official site
vanished.

I make monthly releases of all dictionary files in OXT format.

It would be great if you could make a quick (minor) improvement to AU so
that I can ship it in the monthly update, for example, you could add
basic software names.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
>Marco A.G.Pinto
