Hallo, Sophie & Christian,

Granted you Submitter privs for now, can be escalated to reviewer if
necessary.

Beeing also a reviewer were a Good Thing ™ IMHO.

At least than I can delete my own suggestion crap I produce sometimes
and can help to submit good work from others.

Pardon (auch in der eben rausgegangenen PM ist mir das wieder passiert -
ich gelobe Besserung)!

Ich weiß, wie dein Name in Pootle lautet, kann ihn aber trotzdem nicht
finden.

[libreoffice-l10n] Please read: minutes of ESC meeting

2017-10-12 Thread Sophie
Hi all,

Concerning current workflow, here are the minutes of the ESC meeting and
the result of our discussions whit Christian:

* l10n (Sophie)
+ is bad.
+ many strings are marked fuzzy / not cleaned yet (Cloph)
+ many can be auto-translated but need a script writing.
+ wizards cause problems (from gettext migration)
   + different things there (Caolan)
+ some instances where English source string is changed
+ will still be fuzzy afterwards.
+ translators should be a bit patient (Sophie)
+ focus on writer & calc where chance of un-converted strings is
low (Cloph)
+ plan to have a script for next week

So please be patient, we are looking after it and will try our best to
clean the situation.
Cheers
Sophie

You should have the privs, so I think it is just a matter of you not
discovering the correct page:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/de/admin/team/

if you still cannot assign the privileges, let me know and I'll bump them.

ciao

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Updated templates for master

2017-10-12 Thread Michael Bauer

Sometimes 'cosmetic' change could mean a difference. To me is
indicative if string is 1) in all caps, if 2) first letter is
capitalized and if 3) all letters are lowercased.

Not a good reason Kruno. For one, not all scripts even entertain the
idea of caps. CJK, Nagari, Amhara, Arabic-based ... non of them have
caps. Yet somehow they manage to make their UI work.

Secondly, quite a lot of locales have strict lowercasing. Like ours. So
caps in en-US don't make a blind bit of difference to our translations.

Thirdly, there is largely no rhyme, no reason, and apparently no season.
In en-US, caps follow whatever the flavour of the month is. Evidence?
Sure. Just as Microsoft was abandoning sentence case, LibreOffice went
for it, or the other way round, I can't remember. Either way, round
about the same time, their respective UI went *exactly* the opposite way.

If LO does not want to start treating en-US as a translatable locale, it
really needs to introduce a new change category into Pootle of "cap
change" which does not void existing translations but introduces a QA
flag like "missing placeholder".

Right now, it feels like every time en-US play with their caps, they
give 100 or so other locales the finger, as if our time didn't matter
two hoots. And it's NOT like this is a novel issue, we've debated this
ad nauseum and STILL you dump these on us volunteers. Do you know how
much I'd charge for this kind of time?

I know, that I have the privileges, and know the page too, but I haven't
found Sophia first. The problem was, that I first have to remove Sophia
from Submitters before I could add her to Reviewers. Now I found the
solution I have added her myserlf.

Thanks

Thank your both for this.
Oddly I am still not able to remove my own obsolete suggestions.
A big red „Not found“ in German occurs.
