Hello,
it turns out libreoffice multilanguage pack doesn't pack spell checker
for Latvian language (on Ubuntu all comes installed by default).

Also, for some reason "get more extensions online" links to
http://libreplanet.org/wiki/Group:OpenOfficeExtensions/List
which then links to openoffice site, which is (was) rather glitchy.
Shouldn't they be accessible from LibreOffice Extension Center?

Latvian spellchecker will be included (I hope) in the next release of
LibOO as it was introduced in the development tree just some weeks ago.

I'd argue about instability of OO extension site - I use it for
installation and updating of Latvian spellchecker on my machines over
the years and never had any problem (ok, there was one - due to the
fine-tuning of dictionaries.xcu, but there was no "dirty hand" of
extension site).

As fas as I understand, currently there is no place in cyberspace
named LibreOffice Extension Centre holding physical bits of respective
extensions.

added new dictionaries there. Adding dictionaries would break the

not a big difference.

I could live with these strings, but seems very reasonable due to the small
time difference.

Janis - what about uploading the dictionary as an extension to have it
available soon than 3.5.0?

Hi!

It is already there (on extension site) plus available from the site

not know tags etc in the po files AND (computer usage infact). As the
Help po files are so large we proposed to print the po files without
the tags as pure text and then after the language guys finish the
translation on paper, we will type and tag the translations. is there
a tool we can use to accomplish this?

if those are classic .po files, you can use Poedit or Virtaal (both
available for Linux and Windows). in case of xml - no idea.

This, according to my experience, is "User Vulgaris".

[libreoffice-l10n] Problem with dic file

2013-04-15 Thread Jānis

Hi!

I found that for some reason the spell checking dic for Latgalian
language in not working anymore

the dic can be found here:

http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/latgalian-spell-checking-and-hyphenation-module

The dic is shown in the list of extensions, in character formatting
dialogue the availability of spelling dic is indicated, but spell
schecking is gone and there are no suggestions also.

To add more to the confusion - the very dictionary is working in
Mozilla products without any problems.

Where is a problem? The other dic developed by me for Latvian languge
is working as expected.

Dear Jānis,

Your dictionary (version 0.1.2 from
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/latgalian-spell-checking-and-hyphenation-module/releases/0.1.2/ltg_lv-0.1.2.oxt/view)
works well with the recent LibreOffice master branch. There was no
changes on the spelling checker side, but the language
code/localization handling has been changed, and there was a bug in
the dictionary registration:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58503

I believe, using the recent development
version or older LibreOffice versions _or_ (if I right know)
installing system-wide dictionaries into the /usr/share/hunspell on
Linux can solve this problem. I suggest to check different LibreOffice
versions (removing temporarily also the user profiles before the
installation, eg. on Linux ~/.libreoffice or ~/.config/libreoffice)
and set the working versions on your dictionary site of
extensions.libreoffice.org. Or is this problem related to the
integrated dictionary?

I found that for some reason the spell checking dic for Latgalian language

the dic can be found here:

The dic is shown in the list of extensions, in character

the availability of spelling dic is indicated, but spell schecking is gone

To add more to the confusion - the very dictionary is working in Mozilla

Where is a problem? The other dic developed by me for Latvian languge is

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Problem with dic file

2013-04-18 Thread Jānis

Hi!

I can try, but that relates not only to Latgalian language - others
also produce the same error messages.

Russian, for example:
ERROR: (com.sun.star.lang.IllegalArgumentException) { { { Message =
"There is no such extension deployed:
org.openoffice.ro.dictionaries.ru-aot", Context =
(com.sun.star.uno.XInterface) @cd0cd30 } }, ArgumentPosition = (short)
-1 }

I looked at the other dics and now I feel a bit confused: does it play
any role how to form an identifier?
For English I see org.openoffice.en.hunspell.dictionaries, for Russian

?

Latgalian language is a subset of Latvian macrocode, consisting of two
langugaes - Latvian standard (lvs) and Latgalian (ltg) both spoken in
Latvia (LV).

besides that - with all errors other dics are working.

definitely there is something fishy with dic installation (in the LO

to my mind - it would be much betted if you submit locale data through

Of course, you language must possess respective language code in, for

Let's start at the very beginning.

How well does LibO _currently_ support Nipmuck?:
* Is Locale data for Nipmuck correct?
* Is the language currently selectable at >Options >Language Settings

Languages >Default Language >Western"?

* How accurate is the spell checker?

for the very beginning I'd suggest to stop at spell checker for a few
years - it will actually support learning process of writing. You can
even create kind of "extremely advanced spell checker" replacing whole
words (or may be even "translating") with the right ones (not the
right use of spell checking mechanism, but why no to, if it allows
such use). At least - I try to use it that way for another "extinct"
language - Latgalian (spoken by some 300 th people daily).
