[libreoffice-l10n] Removal of 6.x strings

2020-12-23 Thread Sérgio Marques
Hi Christian and all,

I don't know if the team is thinking about removing older projects from
weblate but for Portuguese language, I can assure you that you can remove
all 6.x projects because I'm the only one working on Libreoffice
translation and, for sure, I won't be touching that files anymore.

So if you think a good idea, please remove all Portuguese related files for
those projects.

Regards

That helps, but that way it also shows help content. If I go to Language ->
Portuguese that setting doesn't have any effect.

Hi Andras

The string
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pt/libo_online/translate/#filter=incomplete&unit=139704529&offset=0
is:

The server encountered a %0 error while parsing the %1 command.

Can you please tell me waht will %0 be replaced by?

Try to search for those: JLY9K or qriCn

Or search in pootle for 'Remote'

Hope that helps.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] CONCAT vs. CONCATENATE

I use CONCAT for Portuguese because it´s the function name in Excel 2016.

You can use https://support.office.com and search for the function on you
language.

I´ll take a wild guess and assume you're French:

In addition to what already was told, for Portuguese is even worse because
Slide is male and Page is female.

Now imagine how awful the string 'New Slide/Page' will be considering that
'New' can be also male and female depending on the noun of the string.

I don´t know how this appear but it seems to me that this is a dialog title.

If you check string after this one there is the description:

"The file could not be locked for exclusive access by %PRODUCTNAME, due to

But in the meantime if you work on master, your translations will be in 5.0

Statistisc tests (f-test and t-test)

Statistisc tests (all: sampling, exponetial smoothing. anova...)

I tottaly agree with you. In fact, a while ago Shopie asked us if we wanted
a master branch for our language. And my reply was very clear. NO.

So why the hell someone decided to ignore what I and others told her?

Where is the need to create a master branch for ALL languages even If we
don´t want it? That will give more work to Cloph to create it and probably
Christian will also have more work this way. And from what I can understand
from this messages is that most of the translators don´t want a master
branch.

What if I updated some translations only in stable? Do they get backported
> to master?

That is exactly my problem. How do they get merged?

Let´s see. I don´t want to work on master so I don´t. But between releases,
let´s assume 4.5 and 4.4, I´m working on 4.4 only. But there is a master
project in pootle. So if 4.5 is built upon master, changes I´ve made in 4.4
branch will not be in 4.5. And I will have to do it all and over again? But
I don´t keep a journal with changed strings and I supposed not many people
do. And even if I manage to keep a journal, which i don´t want, isn´t this
worse than what we have right now?

On the other hand, if changes made on 4.4 branch make it their way to
master and back to 4.5 branch that´s ok.

But, to make it even more complicated, what happens if we work on master
and 4.4 branch? I change on master some strings that are from 4.4 branch
and don´t update 4.4? When strings from 4.4 make their way to master
(assuming 4.4->master->4.5), strings changed in master will be replaced by
ones in 4.4 or won´t they. I don´t know, it´s very unclear to me.

For me (Portuguese) it´s fine as is. I know that from time to time. we have
a lot of work. But I prefer that way. Master strings, as Mihovil said, has
many changes all the time. I prefer to do the work one time only.

Please be very sure that all works fine. I´m also translating lxde on their
pootle instance and I must say that works worse than what we have now in
LibO.

Mainly the problems are related with statistics not being updated and it is
showing words and sentences needing translating/review poorly. For
instance, a component is missing x translations. When we click on that x
number, we get "No results found". This could be misleading, especially in
LibO project beacause ot its size.

[libreoffice-l10n] Source string from Numbering incorrect

2014-05-18 Thread Sérgio Marques
/svx/source/dialog.po

Line: 40159133
Context: svxbmpnumvalueset.src RID_SVXSTR_SINGLENUM_DESCRIPTION_0
string.text
Comment: 8BcAe

Source string from this string is Number %NUMBERINGSAMPLE

Obviously that translators wil translate this string to TRANSLATION
%NUMBERINGSAMPLE

But this string is incorrect (at least in my locale: PT) because the
tooltip shows exactly TRANSLATION %NUMBERINGSAMPLE instead of
TRANSLATION 1) 2) 3)

You guys can check this string at Writer->Format->Bullets and Numbering.

Can someone confirm this and if necessary open a bug report or fix it?

My release is 4.2

Regards

I have to disagree on this. This discussion should happen in website list
but also in localization list because the website is being prepared for
translation. And is there a better place to dscuss about translation than
this list? I don´t think so. However I do agree that specific issues (not
related with translation) should only be on website list.

I´ve tested 4.2 release and all of these strings are incorrect.

They should be just like Milos stated.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Some hickups in English strings

And another one:

File: starmath/source.po
Context: commands.src RID_INT_FROMX_HELP string.text
Comments: SCvrE

"Integral Subscript Top" should be "Integral Subscript Bottom"

But what I really loved to see was "xxx with Top Index", "xxx with Bottom
Index" and "xxx with Top/Bottom Index" instead of "xxx Superscript Top",
"xxx Subscript Bottom" and "xxx Sup/Sub script".

It´s easier to understand (I think)

I think that this one is the title. I understand it as: "Stream from Live

So for me those are correct. But that´s just my opinion.

I notice that too. Seems like migration wasn´t that good. I´ve found out
that many strings already translated for 4.1 exist in 4.2 but lost
translation.

The best ting is that pootle shows suggestions for those strings

[libreoffice-l10n] String change suggestion

2013-11-25 Thread Sérgio Marques
Hi all,

When translating 4.2 I´ve found out this string:

File: scalc/01.po
Context: 0512.xhp par_id3163711 help.text
Comments: aG8C

"You can enter several conditions that query the contents of cell values or
formulas. The conditions are evaluated from the first to the last. If the
condition 1 matches the condition, the defined style will be used.
Otherwise, condition 2 is evaluated, and its defined style is used. *If
this style does not match*, then the next condition is evaluated and so on."

My red and italic font. The style is not evaluated. What is evaluated is
condition.

This part of string should be "... If the condition..."
