Then I guess there's no harm translating this one, too.

I was mechanically taking the ODF 1.2 extended entry, and adjusting it
for 1.3:

  1.2
Extended (compatibility mode)

So perhaps this discussion took place already for ODF 1.2 Extended,
and was just not reflected back into the source tree?

Cheers,

Hi guys,

just to chime in a bit late & somewhat arbitrarily in the middle -
indeed TDF would not turn down reasonable requests for new l10n
projects (some technicalities aside, you mentioned ISO code already).

What I've read in this thread, I took it more as suggestions. Being
involved with another minority language (low-saxon/low-german, ISO
code nds), I can say with a bit of authority that when one starts from
zero, focusing on writing tools (spellchecker, grammar checker) is the
best use of scarce volunteer time. If you want to preserve a language
(at least speaking for central Europe), make it easy to write it
correctly. Everyone able to use a computer (again speaking of central
Europe) will have no problems using the UI or help in the respective
majority language.

After that, you can still ponder UI translations (for nds, we're not
gonna do that - at least all the technical terms would stay normal
German anyway, so it's a very high effort for almost no gain). :)

Cheers,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.1.0 RC4 test builds available for smoketesting

2013-07-23 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

QA found a number of problems that were initially addressed via a
hotfix for the Linux packages, but then resulted in a fully new build
today - we're now uploading builds of LibreOffice 4.1.0 RC4 to a
public (but non-mirrored - so don't spread news too widely!) place, as
soon as they're available. Grab them here:

 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs, especially regressions relative to prior RCs here, so we can
incorporate them into the release notes. Please note that it takes
approximately 24 hours to populate the mirrors, so that's about the
time we have to collect feedback.

The list of fixed bugs vs. 4.1.0 RC3 is available here

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugs-libreoffice-4-1-0-release-4.1.0.4.log

I'd like to especially ask QA volunteers from the following locales,
to please verify the fix of fdo#67093:

Thanks a lot for your help,

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] [Pootle] Translation help for unit 40270452

2013-06-23 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi Thomas, list,

sorry for being late to the show -

Thomas Hackert wrote:

With several legacy pre-ODF1.2 and ODF1.2-only consumers out there,
users wanted a more backward-compatible ODF 1.2 extended mode, that

OpenOffice.org versions. Therefore the ODF 1.2 Extended (compat)
 mode was introduced.
 /quote

Happy to have this text thrown out the window, torn to pieces
rewritten - technically, what happens are two things when 1.2 extended
compat is chosen:

 - we fallback to older, pre-1.2 encryption and signature algorithms,
that were deprecated in ODF 1.2
 - be bug-compatible to OOo and AOO for writing svg:d paths (that is
used for polygons, e.g. on freeform curves or custom shapes in
   Impress)
 - plus future additions to this set

All of this, as others outlined, to get slightly better interop with
older / less conformant ODF consumers. We don't default to that
option, since it would knowingly create substandard ODF files - we
rather encourage other applications to fix their bugs.

Since this is likely to be used for additional things found to cause
problems, or if/when we fix additional bugs in our ODF export, simply
listing the above items appeared not ideal to me. Usually it is
forgotten to update help, better use a generic text. ;)

Hope that explains a bit, cheers,

2013-03-28 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the second release
candidate of our upcoming LibreOffice 4.0.2. This will be the second
in a series of frequent updates to our feature-packed 4.0
branch. Please be aware that LibreOffice 4.0.2 RC2 is not ready for
production use, you should continue to use LibreOffice 4.0.1 for that.

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some
specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test

  - or checkout our manual test database for starting right away -

 http://manual-test.libreoffice.org/runtests/

As usual, this update is accompanied with a new version of the Impress
Remote - if you would like to test, an updated Android package is
available here:

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/sdremote-1.0.6/playstore/ImpressRemote.apk
 (and note https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Impress/RemoteHowTo)

For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can
e.g. contribute code:

  http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/

translate LibreOffice to your language:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide

or help with funding our operations:

  http://donate.libreoffice.org/

A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.0.2 RC2 is available
from our wiki:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/4.0.2/RC2

Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having
contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have

with the imminent 4.0.1 release, the play store look got revamped, an
updated apk uploaded, and I have removed the prominent hint to only
use distro-versions of 4.0.0. But please double-check your language in

major release in just over two years, and comes with a nice set of new
features. Please be aware that LibreOffice 4.0 RC3 is not ready for

If no showstoppers are found, RC3 is slated to become the final
version - see our release plan for more details:

builds download page at

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

The request have to be completed by Petr or YiFan because I can't find

month/man to achieve the localization capabilities of Moztrap.

Just out of curiosity, do you have someone in mind able to do that?
And I presume we already tried to lobby upstream to do it? What would
be not so desirable is to do something that upstream moztrap would be
unwilling to merge.

There were no bugs reported against this version, and we see no

therefore is to skip RC2 and declare RC1 final.

Any violent objection needs to be accompanied by a patch - currently
RC2 would be binary identical to RC1. ;)

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the

populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

The (still growing) list of features for the upcoming 3.6.0 is on our

screenshots:

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.6.0 beta1 available

2012-06-08 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for the upcoming new version 3.6.0, we today upload a first beta1
build that is (almost) feature-complete. For further milestones on the
way towards 3.6.0, please refer to our release plan timings here:

 http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.6_release

Builds are now being uploaded to a public (but non-mirrored - so don't
spread news too widely!) place, as soon as they're available. Grab
them here:

 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours to
populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

The list of fixed bugs relative to 3.5.4 is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-6-release-3.5.99.1.log

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated - and
validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.5.1 RC1 available

2012-02-26 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for the upcoming new version 3.5.1, the RC1 builds now start to be
available on pre-releases. This build is slated to be one of two
release candidate builds on the way towards 3.5.1, please refer to our
release plan timings here:

 http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.5_release

Builds are now being uploaded to a public (but non-mirrored - so don't
spread news too widely!) place, as soon as they're available. Grab
them here:

 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours to
populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

The list of fixed bugs relative to 3.5.0 is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-5-1-release-3.5.1.1.log

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated - and
validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.5.0 Beta1 available

2011-12-16 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is happy to announce the first beta release of
LibreOffice 3.5.0. The upcoming 3.5 will be our third major release
line, packed with many exciting new features. Please be aware that
LibreOffice 3.5.0 Beta1 is not ready for production use, you should
continue to use LibreOffice 3.4.4 for that.

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

A good way to assess the Beta1 quality is to run some specific manual
tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details:

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test

 (and the announcement mail:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2011-December/022464.html)

For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can
e.g. contribute code:

  https://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/

translate LibreOffice to your language:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Translation_for_3.5

or help with funding our operations:

  http://challenge.documentfoundation.org/

A list of known issues with 3.5.0 Beta1 is available from our wiki:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.5.0/Beta1

Please find the list of changes against LibreOffice 3.5.0 alpha here:

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-5-release-3.4.99.1-against-3.5.0-beta0.log

Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having
contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have
been possible without your help.

Yours,

The Document Foundation Board

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.4.5 RC1 test builds available

2011-12-15 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for 3.4.5 RC1, we're now uploading builds to a public (but
non-mirrored - so don't spread news too widely!) place, as soon as
they're available. Grab them here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases-3-4/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours to
populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

The list of fixed bugs vs. 3.4.4 is available here

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases-3-4/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-4-release-3.4.5.1.log

, it would be nice to verify they're really fixed in the build.

Thanks so much for your help,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.5.0 beta0 available

2011-12-02 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for the upcoming new version 3.5.0, we start with a beta0 build that
likely will have a few rough edges, and is not yet feature-complete.
We will feature-freeze next Monday, and then branch off the code -
release plan timings are here:

 http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.5_release

Builds are now being uploaded to a public (but non-mirrored - so don't
spread news too widely!) place, as soon as they're available. Grab
them here:

 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours to
populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

Known bugs so far include:
+ Windows installer is in English only (has been fixed today)
+ Windows unopkg.bin crashes during install (will be fixed ASAP)
+ Windows applications start a console window (fdo#42914 - fixed)
+ Windows version _removes_ 3.3/3.4 installations - this behaviour
will be switched back for beta1 again - only RCs should do that.

The list of fixed bugs in this release is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugfixes-master-release-3.5.0.0.log

(warning, monstrous list - a lot has happened since April)

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated - and
validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Hi,

no changes have been committed into the libreoffice-3-3-3 branch. The
code is exactly the same as for the tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1
(3.3.3-rc1). Hence it does not make sense to do the libreoffice-3.3.3.2
tag and 3.3.3-rc2 build.

If no blocker is found, 3.3.3-rc1 will be marked as final on June 15, 2011.

See also the schedule at
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.3_release
and release criteria at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Release_Criteria

Best Regards,

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] LibreOffice 3.4 RC2 available

2011-05-27 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Dear Community,

The Document Foundation is happy to announce the second release
candidate of LibreOffice 3.4. The upcoming 3.4 will be the second
major release of the LibreOffice project, and comes with many exciting
new features. Please be aware that LibreOffice 3.4 RC2 is not yet
ready for production use, you should continue to use LibreOffice 3.3.2
for that.

The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA
builds download page at

  http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

A list of new features specific to LibreOffice is to be found here:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/3.4

Should you find bugs, please report them to the FreeDesktop Bugzilla:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org

For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can
e.g. contribute code:

  https://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/

translate LibreOffice to your language:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Translation_for_3.4

or help with funding our foundation:

  http://challenge.documentfoundation.org/

A list of known issues with 3.4 RC2 is available from our wiki:

  http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/3.4/RC2

Please find the list of changes against LibreOffice 3.4 RC1 here:

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-4-0-release-3.4.0.2.log

Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having
contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have
been possible without your help.

Yours,

The Steering Committee of The Document Foundation

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] Preview builds of 3.4 rc2 available

2011-05-25 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for the rc2, we're now uploading builds to a public (but non-mirrored
- so don't spread news too widely!) place, as soon as they're
available. Grab them here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours
to populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

Currently, debs, rpms, and Mac packages are available, or currently
uploading. Mac PPC is back into production, but a bit slower on the
native hardware.

The list of fixed bugs in this release is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-4-0-release-3.4.0.2.log

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated -
and validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,

-- Thorsten

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] Preview builds of 3.4 rc1 available

slowest to build. Mac PPC is back into production.

[libreoffice-l10n] [ANN] Preview builds of 3.4 Beta 5 available

2011-05-11 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Hi *,

for beta 5, we're now uploading builds to a public (but non-mirrored
- so don't spread news too widely!) place, as soon as they're
available. Grab them here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours
to populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

Known issues so far:

+ The update from libreoffice-3.4.0betaX packages does not work on
Linux. Please, remove the older beta packages before.

+ The linux packages can be installed in parallel with LO-3.3
packages (fdo#36551). It required to rename the libreoffice3-*
packages to libreoffice3.4-*. Also the desktop integration packages
can be installed in parallel. It required to rename the wrapper from
  libreoffice to libreoffice3.4

+ The Debian packages use lower release number 5 instead of 103.
The number 5 has been used for RPMs and Windows installer
release numbers for a long time. It is bumped for each official
  build.

Currently, debs, rpms, and Mac packages are available, or currently
uploading. Win32 will take some more time, this platform is usually
slowest to build.

The list of fixed bugs in this release is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugfixes-libreoffice-3-4-release-3.3.99.5.log

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated -
and validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,

[libreoffice-l10n] Re: [Libreoffice] Mac builds / lang-packs ...

2011-02-07 Thread Thorsten Behrens
Michael Meeks wrote:
Would it not be better in 3.4 (when we have solved the size issues) to
have a single download (like Windows) that includes all the languages,
and have an optional help-pack ?

Yep - though I don't really like the installer concept on mac, I
guess I'd then prefer to install all those langs unconditionally. If
that turns out to cause issues, we can discuss other options.

Cheers,

Do you have any info - will localized online help be enabled in final 3.3 or
does the foundation want to release such a product with no localized online

Hi Martin,

sure, the plan is definitely to have localized online help for 3.3.
No worries. :)

Cheers,
