Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Number of new strings in master
Hi all, the same problem seem to affect Russian language in pootle. UI-master initially had more than 5000 untranslated items in master, 3790 still to do for now (4540 minus 750 from extra/souces/autocorr). Could someone from the Pootle team look at this, please? -- wbr, sb 2017-01-03 13:33 GMT+03:00 Michael Bauer : > They're not all new. They're not all new. I had the same and I suspect it's another round of "oh look the devs played with the en-US string names" which makes a string "new" even if the text hasn't actually changed. There are a lot of 100% matches in those 5000 words. Hi, I'm adding Dwayne in cc, Dwayne, could you have a look at this issue, as Stanislas says, it's really misleading and error prone. Hi, Dne 30.12.2016 v 10:32 Modestas Rimkus napsal(a): Thanks Stanislav! Unfortunately, no suggestions for me, although 5.2 master UI has these strings translated. I tend to think the translations were too new to have been uploaded to the external TM where current suggestions come from, and Pootle does not display suggestions from other projects/files/strings after the upgrade :( yes, now I see that you are right, only external TM suggestions are shown and they are very outdated (after some checking, I would say they come from the beginning of the 4.x series) - and they can be more misleading than helpful. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Number of new strings in master
Hi, Dne 27.12.2016 v 13:37 Modestas Rimkus napsal(a): This does not seem to be the case for me. New strings appear as untranslated, not fuzzy, and no suggestions are given from TM. As an example, I had swext folder fully translated, and now it has 980 untranslated words, all in help.po file. Nothing is suggested from TM, but were there really that many additions to the MediaWiki help? there were no additions to the MediaWiki help, but the strings were proofread with very minor changes - see this commit [1] (I look at the commits history very often to see what happened). Suggestions from TM are shown correctly for me. Then the templates auto-update stopped for me and Pootle upgrade followed. In short, I had these >5000 words in UI to work on too. The bad news is the number of strings. The good news is that they are "90%" fuzzy, because most are about the UI bars and menus instead of new features/commands, so the strings were in the translation memory. I see both on the all project page and on the master UI are 101 730. I think that your language has not been updated against template the last time, the script has silently stopped hence we decided to run the upgrade. I've checked with French, svx sc and sw have the same numbers and we didn't have that amount to translate after the last update 4 days ago. But to be sure, could you send me the link where you see 102 264? > > Should I wait more with translating or everything I mentioned above is > correct and I can start translating? I think you should go on. Cloph is currently on vacation and with this mess in statistics it's not easy, but comparing with French, where translation was complete and updated before the migration, I see no differences. I'll have another check when I get you link. @Olivier, did you finished your translation before the migration and the last update against template (I would like to have another language for reference)? thanks Cheers Sophie -- Sophie Gautier sophie.gaut...@documentfoundation.org GSM: +33683901545 IRC: sophi Release coordinator The Document Foundation -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Number of new strings in master
Croatian shows 102.264 on all projects page, with 5482 untranslated, where 5.2 was 100% translated. So there is really 5482 new strings in 5.3? Should I wait more with translating or everything I mentioned above is correct and I can start translating? I got more than 5.3k of untranslated words in master for Lithuanian after the update, which is a bit demotivating. Still hope something might have gone wrong during the update process :) https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_ui still displays the old number of untranslated words - 2502 (and old total number as well - 100 863). As soon as I open the language page ( https://translations.documentfoundation.org/lt/libo_ui), the number of untranslated words changes to 7863 (and total to 101 784). Confusing... For French, I have the same count of 100 532 for both. Templates shows 99 885 for both too. I think this is the same bug Andras was talking about. Be aware also that some languages have not been updated against template the last time, so both may have an effect. There is still about a month to go on with translation and still 5.3.0 will not be for production, hope that will let us time to catch up without too much pressure.
